NPR is Teh Suxxor

Ten goddamn minutes. Perhaps more; I’m not sure as I picked up in what sounded like the middle of the story. Blah, blah, ’bottom of the hour, human interest stories are important too.’ If they can devote over ten minutes of their oh so precious morning airtime to a fictional dog from a teevee show in the 50s they can find a 30 second slot for Edwards.

After the dog story, I heard that Hillary is trailing Obama in NH, but is wearing bunny slippers to counter act that. And that while there are only those two people running in the Democratic primaries, Huckabee is a distanct third despite his strong Iowa showing.

Fuck I hate our press.

Do you think the press is trying to send some kind of message?

Could that be it?

WaPo, A01: GOP Fears ’Post-Partisan’ Obama.

Now, if only they can deal with that nasty Huckabee creature, McCain’s jowls will hit the campaign trail (“Comeback in NH!”) and we’ll have two candidates who care about America instead of just themselves!

I’m going to get a pony!

Super meta pony question

What are Obama’s views on media consolidation, which is the real point at issue here?

I remember being pleasantly surprised about his views on telecommunications and net neutrality.

Clarity

You lost me at “TEH” and “SUXXOR. What does that mean?

As I understand it,

“Teh” has evolved from a typo to become an indicator of epitome.

“Suxxor” evolved from the Crypto-Corporonian noun “fuxxor,” meaning, “an entity who acts upon another in a particular manner; specifically, coercing or persuading a target (the “fuxxee”) to open pants and bend over, permitting all coinage of the realm to be shaken to the ground during a protracted and vigorous fuxxing-over session.”

Teh and Suxxor meanings

Thank you.

Heard that myself

NPR gave 10 minutes to Hillary in morning drive time to make her case and she spent it telling us Obama has a lobbyist as co-chair of his NH campaign and passed “stand up instead of sit down lunches” as lobbying reform. Like that’s all there is to it. She slipped at the end and said we’re in it til Feb. 5. Then we got commentary from Cokie Roberts with the brilliant insight that “change” is just a 6 letter word. Former “The Note” wanker Mark Halperin of TIME read back her lobbyist co-chair talking points to her as questions last night in a Youtube taped on her bus. This is the kind of glass house stuff from the campaign that said only two days ago it wouldn’t go negative that isn’t going to help the candidate who has Mark Penn, a union busting dickhead as one of her major campaign staffers.

But at the very least it should (but you know it won’t) shut up those who whine Hillary doesn’t get a fair chance from the press.

Edwards gets no pub and has embarked on an insane 36 hour tour of the state with stops at 2am, 4 am, and 6am. Obama’s doctor told him to rest his voice
which he’s ignoring but with a schedule like that John is is gonna be down to a rasp by tomorrow night.

Super meta pony (simple) answer

From a November 2007 Op-Ed by Sens. Obama & Kerry:
Media Consolidation Silences Diverse Voices

For too long now, the FCC has been putting corporate interests ahead of the people’s interests. It’s time for that to change.

We need to not only create the opportunity for minority-owned businesses to participate in the market, but also to help those who enter this business succeed. We will keep fighting until we have a free and open media that represents every American in our diverse nation.

I’ve been following your crusade at Kos and, as an Obama supporter, I appreciate your attempts to raise the level of scrutiny and discussion of the Presidential Race. I hope to find the time to engage in further discussions of Obama’s merits and intentions - but, alas, time is something that is lacking in the life of this new student of political wonkery.

Thanks...

manahmanah:

Thanks for the kind words (“crusade”?) In general, modified tit for tat is a good strategy, so foolish worship is met with mockery and derision, and thoughtful commentary point for point, and trollism treated as such.

I never go to any candidate’s site for information, no matter who — they’re way too self-interested, as they should be, to be truthworthy, even the good ones.

And I encourage you to return here often to hear what the embittered and Obama-hating left has to say ;-)

That said, I don’t find your quote on point. Sure, minority ownership is good, but that’s tinkering round the edges. How about breaking some of them up? How about a return to the Fairness Doctrine?

or how about the amount of money he's received

from various interests with a dog in that hunt (FISA/privacy, net neutrality, etc).

talk is cheap, and “follow the money” is always my first rule. obama is more or less the same, when you get down to the fine points of policy and his voting record, as the rest of the field. i admit that, where it seems some obama supporters have a hard time saying the same thing about their guy in comparison to others. i don’t think edwards is the second coming anymore than i think people should believe obama is the great white hope. titter
anyway, i’ve got to run and can’t track down the links right now, any obama supporters who want to talk about who is funding his campaign (specifically, with links) are very, very welcome.

which (if any) big telcos are behind him, and how has he voted on key issues relating to the media and “fairness” (or lack therein)?

you know what’s really funny? the utter lack of hillary supporters around here. i guess we already made ourselves anathema to those folks 00000s of blog posts ago…heh.

I almost felt sorry for Hillary this evening, listening to NPR

on “All Things Considered,” one of the questions put to HRC from an audience member in New Hampshire was (softball deluxe) approximately, “How do you do this? How do you stay so upbeat and energized all the time?”

To which HRC gave a somewhat involved and exhausted-sounding (moreso than pleased or tranquil, anyway) reply that boiled down to, “I do this because I don’t want to see our country step back.”

Which is where, actually, I quit thinking, “maybe I’ve been too harsh on Hillary.”

Because the lady hasn’t just been watching us step back.
She’s been leading the conga.
