NY-29: Eric Massa for single payer

NY-29: Wrap-up of first Massa/Kuhl Debate

Kuhl to Massa. You want to repeal tax cuts (Kuhl is talking about the Bush tax cuts) and you want to spend 1 trillion dollars on health care. (HR 676)

Massa deftly turned that around. Roughly paraphrased - “Sure I want to spend 1 trillion dollars on health care because right now we are spending 1.7 trillion dollars so that results in almost a trillion dollars in savings.

Eric Massa on Health Care

Establish a single payer system that provides universal coverage. I support the idea of a single-payer health care system in which the doctor-patient relationship remains personal and private, but costs and payments are centrally managed. We can reduce overhead and operational costs. Such a plan would encourage preventive health care and dramatically simplify paperwork and reimbursement processes.

Massa is one of the downticket Dems

who's getting my support. I had a 15 minute conversation with someone on his staff last week when I received a phone call asking for another donation. We talked about UHC and the bailout among other things. The staffer (who's worked closely with Massa and whose name I can't remember) told me that Massa calls himself an "FDR Democrat." Imagine that.
