Obama Joins McCain in Whining to the FEC about Unfair 527 Ads

BDBlue's picture

Via Talk Left, Obama has filed a complaint with the FEC over a 527 ad airing in Indiana. Here’s the ad:

Now it might be a bit unfair, but illegal? C’mon. All it accuses him of is not having specifics in his economic plans. That’s hardly some sort of swiftboating. I’ve seen harder ads than this for insurance commissioner. And does this mean he thinks McCain was right to complain to the FEC about the DNC ad?

Of course, there is a way for Obama to show he has specific plans, he could debate Hillary.

Truth Police

I suppose this is BO's Truth Police's first, even though they are "aimed" at the Clinton's (Hillary's reaction is that it is 'strange' read more at link below)

Why debate when you can use "thought police"

If Obama Considers This Beyond the Pale

then, forget how he's going to withstand the GOP attack machine, how's he going to attack McCain? Because we're going to need to hit McCain harder than this.

I know he gets away with holding himself to a different standard than Hillary Clinton, but she's evil and her supporters are racists. If he thinks he's going to get away with that shit against McCain, he's crazy.

BDBlue, he wouldn't pull that shit against McCain

True, VL

and the media wouldn't let him if he tried. What a whiney baby.

And check out the comments on that link about Obama's truth squad. One from Roemer's cousin expressing disappointment that Roemer is participating in the truth squad. The other asks if the truth squad will point out how Obama has stolen his policies from Clinton. Ouch. It was particularly striking because I'm used to the Oborg immediately spamming comment sections.

someone ought to tell BO's campaign

that nobody likes a whiner.

I guess it's their MO when they get themselves in trouble... they whine and then go for a scalp from the other side (see, Ferraro, Geraldine)... now it's Podesta and Reynolds. But only against HRC.

Why

I fail to see what does Obama campaign achieves by whining. Any ideas?

Why

because the OFB are too stupid to realize that Obama talks out of both sides of his mouth*.

Simple answers I suppose.

*or they DO realize, and just don't give a fuck. Upon quick reflection, I'm going to say they don't give a fuck.

Because it's about process

Process is red meat to the OFB. They don't see it as whining at all.

he does so openly so has to be passive/aggressive about it--and it hurts his future runs, too.

Lambert, I'm not buying process

In my "civilian" life I have seen time and time again how the concept of process comes in whenever a solution to a problem is elusive. In these cases, the "process" people claim that the lack of solution is due to a faulty process. It's always a fake; it's never done by the thinkers; it's always done by the operators.

Although, this description can fit the Obama mob, why not call it what it always is: a smoke screen, an escape, a trick. Clearly, it's not a serious attempt.

Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.

POTL, n. People Of The Lie. Coined by Christian psychiatrist and theologian M. Scott Peck in his book The People of the Lie, which is, among other things, an examination of the nature of human evil. Peck quotes Martin Buber:

Since the primary motive of evil is disguise, one of the places evil people are most likely to be found is within the church.

Additional excerpts can be found here. "Utterly dedicated to preserving their self-image of perfection, they are unceasingly engaged in the effort to maintain the appearance of moral purity. They are acutely sensitive to social norms and what others might think of them. They seem to live lives that are above reproach. The words "image", "appearance" and "outwardly" are crucial to understanding the morality of 'the evil'. While they lack any motivation to be good, they intensely desire to appear good. Their goodness is all on a level of pretense. It is in effect a lie. Actually the lie is designed not so much to deceive others as to deceive themselves. We lie only when we are attempting to cover up something we know to be illicit. At one and the same time 'the evil' are aware of their evil and desperately trying to avoid the awareness." Peck's material, I feel, has great potential for analyzing and deconstructing the nature and behavior of the wing of the Republican party that has captured our government. With the caveats, that Peck raises, that evil is very dangerous to analyze--since we are, after all, all vulnerable to it.
