It's a novel strategy, says Kos, telling the base to go fuck itself in the primaries.
I guess it's a clever move. But generally, one moves to "the center"-- that is, capitulates to the Conservative Movement -- in the general, so WTF?
But don't worry! Obama will govern as a progressive!
UPDATE As I said elsewhere in comments (you may have to scroll down):
Look, politics ain’t beanbag. If Obama’s leveraging Hillary hatred and right wing talking points to suck low information independents into the Iowa caucuses so they can pick the Democratic candidate, good for him. It’s a clever plan. Perhaps too clever, but time will tell.
UPDATE Here's a member of Obama's fan base with a straight translation of a Malkin talking point. Ah, "unity"...

Got a link
to whatever it is that Obama's throwing at Gore?
Check the Kos post
(I think it's part of the story that Kos is posting this. Kos is all about making partisan Democrats successful, let us remember.

I'm beginning to see a pattern...
Wowsers. If the current trends continue, the general election could be McCain/Lieberman vs. Bloomberg/Lieberman vs. Obama/Lieberman!
I am feeling all Joe-mantic.
The link
Here is the source of the story:
http://weblogs.newsday.com/news/local/lo...
Here is the entirity of the blog entry:
In a speech this afternoon in central Iowa, Barack Obama seems to have widened his criticism of the politics of the past to encompass not only Hillary Clinton but John Kerry and Nobel Laureate Al Gore.
Making an argument for his electability, Obama said, "I don't want to go into the next election starting off with half the country already not wanting to vote for Democrats -- we've done that in 2004, 2000," according to a person at the event (rush transcript).
I see elsewhere, you mock lazy journalists. Good lord, man. This is the uncorroborated, 'rush transcript, 'according to a person' crap that does not even say what the headline says. the only legs this has is morons repeating the headline before looking that its eithr some 12 year old kid, or an HRC staffer reporting.
You are either a fool or incompetent.
I don;t really read blogs a lot but saw your link in a Krugman blog, and no wonder such a brilliant man comes to such shoddy conclusions when its non-science. He avtually places some value to this crap.

Lieberman
McCain/Lieberman vs Obama/Lieberman would make for a real love-fest for a VP debate.
Troll education
Okay, so the Newsday quote was based on a "rush transcript." But it was shortly followed up with this from Jake Tapper, who credits a particular source at ABC:
"In an argument about his electability, Obama compared himself favorably with Sen. Hillary Clinton who is viewed negatively by nearly half the country. Obama is viewed far more favorably by independents and Republicans.
Then he said, per ABC News' Sunlen Miller, 'I don't want to go into the next election starting off with half the country already not wanting to vote for Democrats. We've done that in 2004 and 2000. 47 percent of the country on one side, 47 percent of the country on the other . . . We don't need another one of those elections.' "
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/...
Tapper asks if this was actually a slam against Gore and Kerry. Of course it was. Obama argued that Hillary will alienate half the electorate and used Gore and Kerry as other examples of candidates who (according to him) have done the same thing. This from Mr. Unity. Spare us, please.
It's always OK to trash Democrats!
That's what "unity" means! What's wrong with you, where4art? Why can't you understand this?

Oh. I guess I have a lot to learn
about politics. Must be a system where common sense doesn't apply.
now, this is fascinating
reading comments about commentary about a comment that implies something about another comment...all of which i'm not going to read other than what i see here.
horserace chatter is so fascinating, when you don't get the context. what is obama's policy and voting record re: the environment? i actually don't know. but i care more about that, and will look it up sometime, than i do about his campaign trail statements.
just for fun, here is a snapshot of his voting record, when he's gone against the party. gosh i wish we could have more discussion of what that means. or why he couldn't get off his ass and vote about an important question on reproductive health care. i hate the fact that not voting is even an option for them; what the fuck are we paying them for if not to vote on bills?
they should only be allowed to miss so many votes, and after that, get automatically recalled. just like you or i would get fired, should we not show up for our jobs regularly.
answering my own question
of course, i realize that the reason obama missed a lot of recent votes is because he realizes: more people care about horserace he said she said, and know more details about it, than they do about silly things like voting records and missed votes on environmental bills that actually have an effect on the environment. he's gotta stay in the Game, and be "in it to win it." so he'll have another plate of bland, iowan bbq and chat it up with Serious people in still-creased new ll bean shirts.

Belowis what she writes and then for good measure shows off that Newsweek bought it hook, line, and sinker. and, in what passes for intellectual leadership, lower leve minnows such as you drag it further. i'm not quite sure if you feel like a dfool, but i doubt it. The pathetic part is that you will provide a link here and actually claimthat Obama attacked Gore and Kerry.
No one has reported on this yet. I got this from a reader who heard this went down in Iowa, then confirmed it and emailed me the quote:
