Of The Republican Presidential Candidates...

Who would you like to see as the Republican nominee to face the Dems?
And why? »

QOTDThe Big Brown Alien Frenzy was created by right-wing think-tanks who have studied the strategies of dictators throughout time. They are purposefully and incorrectly using Latinos - and they have convinced the public that we are ALL illegal immigrants, even though 60 percent of us were born here and the majority of the other 40 percent are legal - as scapegoats and distractionary hate-targets so that no one pays attention to the real reason for our nation’s economic destruction: George W. Bush and his idiotic fiscal policies. TechnoratiWho's onlineThere are currently 23 users and 241 guests online.

Ronald Reagan
Because he was the bestest President of them all.
He showed Iraq and Iran who’s boss the good ol’ fashioned American way (selling them weapons)!
They should get rid of that law that a President can only serve for two terms, and the one that says he has to be alive. Actually, I’m not sure there is a law that says that…
Mitt Romney
I think he’ll be able to buy the nomination, even if in their dark authoritarian hearts the Reptilicans want Guiliani.
I think either Edwards or Obama would take Romney.
I think Hillary would have trouble, because why not vote for a real Republican?

The Repubs are such practitioners of machine politics...
… that I find it hard to handicap the various choices. Whoever gets the nod will be — per the MSM — serious, sincere, earthy, godly, manly, and beer-drinkworthy.
Teh man-crush! It b-u-r-n-s!
You are so right, VL.
Shoulders you could land a bottle of English Leather on, and so forth.

icky! english leather is teh stink
but i suppose that is still in keeping with the MSM’s construction of “manly and electable.” winning stinks, or something.
my choice: tancredo. sure, the SCLM
would make him up to be whatever it is they think people would want to hear, but his face is an Ugly one, even the camera and wurlitzer noise won’t hide it. he’s slimy, and hate filled. he’s scary enough i think some more moderate and progressive communities would come out to vote against him.
but it won’t be him, so that’s just fantasy.
Rudy is my choice
I select Rudy Giuliani because I believe that he would fundamentally shift the Republican Party from the party of pro-life, anti-gay, status quo to the more tolerant, law & order, fiscally conservative party it was in the 60’s. His negatives are extemely low and his positives are strong - this with everyone already knowing about his personal life issues.
Since Hillary’s odds of winning the Democratic nomination are high, I believe that Rudy would be a worthy adversary. Both have had bad marriages and both have had ethical questions. But Rudy has a chance to pick up a NY or CA while Hillary has no chance to pick up any southern state.
But primarily I believe that Rudy would fundamentally shift the Republican party and build a brand new coalition while many of the other candidates would simply maintain the status quo republican coalitions. Change is good.
Ron Paul. I don’t think
Ron Paul. I don’t think the who the candidates are will affect the result of ’08 much (Dems have it), but should I be wrong, Ron Paul seems the least objectionable of the Republican lot.
On the other hand, John McCain as the nomineee would remove whatever doubt there is that the Dems have it locked up.
Ron Paul is right on one issue...
… and Rudy and Mitt are scrubbing their opinions to ensure they’re not right on any.
What a grand old party it is.
Dems should by no means take 2008 for granted
See note here at end.

Guilliani the Murderer
Doug, that is absolutely ridiculous. The fact that Guilliani is a hypocrite by claiming to be a Republican and yet is an advocate for the murder of innocent children will have no impact whatsoever on the Republican Party. We will stay firm in the right belief that pro-life is the only way to go. Even if, God forbid, he does become the Republican candidate, the Republican Party as a whole will never succumb to his barbaric belief that murdering the innocent is okay. Keep dreaming, Doug, because that’s all it will ever be - a disgusting dream.
Ah, the pro-coathanger crowd heard from
How nice for all of us!
Christianist
have no qualms about getting safe, legal abortions themselves (and then going to church to get “forgiven,” of course) but they want to force others back to the days of coathangers in back alleys.
The situation is, of course, entirely covered by Matt 23:25.
