BE it noted that Xan’s post of 4-30-06, entitled “Face the Nation: Rice, Cantwell, Mulkowski” is hereby revised to remove the expression “Maria Cantwell, (DINO-WA).” and related unkind expressions regarding Sen. Cantwell’s lapses from the path of progressivism, populism and proud liberalism. Upon further consideration, and contemplation of the passionate defense of Cantwell’s record by esteemed commentor Brenda Helverson, I am persuaded I was excessively harsh, and guilty of excessive and undeserved snark.

Okay, I’m still bitter about the Alito-filibuster vote, Brenda, but damn, yer her constituent and if you think that well of her, I must defer to your judgement on the matter. Chalk it up to the reflexive hostility of one who has the burden of being “represented” (pause for bitter laughter, followed by bitter weeping, and concluded with sounds not unlike those of hairball-expulsion) by Frist and Alexander.

I hope Harold Ford turns out good enough that I am inspired to defend him as strongly as you do Ms. Cantwell. Consider a glass of something potent hoisted in your direction, Brenda. You were right and I was wrong. My apologies to you and the Senator. You win.
