High on the long list of "people I can't figure out why they'd be Republicans anyway" (which includes of course women, patriots, Christians, Jews, lovers of the Constitution, patriots, supporters of the military, carbon-based life forms, etc.) gay folks have to be near the very top. How self-hating do you have to be?

Pretty goddam self-hating indeed, and not too bright besides according to this LA Times piece. And I left Whiny-Ass-Titty-Babies off the list above, which turns out to be an oversight:

"It leaves the impression that we're all predators."

David Catania, who serves on the District of Columbia city council and is gay, said he left the Republican Party over its opposition to gay marriage. He expressed sympathy for his gay friends who remained active Republicans.

"They've hitched their stars to the party, hoping to hunker down and ride out the Taliban-esque wing, hoping their views will come back into the mainstream," Catania said. "It's got to be very demoralizing for them."

Boo, I say boo the fuck, hoo yet again.

And for those who don't have the time to read the whole piece, dig this: Foley was de-facto out in his district anyway, just not in Washington. Proving that sluttery has no sexual orientation (and I apologize to honest sluts for the comparison), Foley was not just a horndog for boys but was a cheating spouse.

Yup. He has a "longtime companion" back waiting faithfully for him at home. The Times delicately refrains from outing him, but I give that about...(looks at watch--five, four, three, two...)oh hell, it's no doubt out on the intertubes someplace already. How many "prominent Palm Beach dermatologists" can there be anyway? Explains why Foley has such nice youthful skin anyway.
