Israel calls up reserves:

Israel Approves Reserve Call-Up, Fueling Talk of Ground Attack
Dec. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Israel expanded its bombing campaign in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip and authorized the call-up of 7,000 army reservists, raising speculation about a possible ground invasion of the coastal enclave.

“This will be a long, difficult and painful operation,” Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told ministers in Jerusalem yesterday, Cabinet Secretary Oved Yehezkel said before the call-up was approved by a committee of parliament.

Yeah, well, it's always painful.

For those actually doing the fighting and dying, that is. Never for the Prime Ministers. Or Presidents. Or Congresscritters.

Yeah, great.

Kadima and Likud; Fatah and Hamas. Really, what's the difference? If you think American politics is a joke, then you've never seen Levant politics. I just love how Kadima and Fatah, in particular, get away with portraying themselves as "moderate" parties. It's times like these I wish Yahweh and Allah were real so they could come down and tell them to chill the fuck out, already. Really, what else is there to say?

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
