Oil FAIL: Alas, the dispersants didn't hide the oil until after the election

What a shame. At Yves's place: Reappearance of Huge Plumes of Oil is Making It Hard to Pretend that the Problem Has Disappeared

But they only missed by four days: 10/28 not 11/2. What a shame.

NOTE Oddly, or not, the Deepwater Horizon is another topic that went unmentioned in the audience The Big O granted to some access bloggers.

Washington Post just "broke" this news:

Three out of four tests on cement Halliburton used in the Macondo oil well showed that the mixture would be unstable, and BP had the results of one of those three tests before the well exploded in the Gulf of Mexico in April, the presidential oil commission said Thursday.

It was mind-boggling to watch "The Spill" on Frontline the other night, the investigative journalists rehashing old news about how despicable BP is. Whoa, no kidding? And you guys investigated that all by yourselves????

You'd think that they might explain why a company with such a horrendous track record is still allowed to do business in this country -- or anywhere -- with virtually no oversight. But no, that didn't come up. Maybe they're saving it for Part Deux.

Just for laughs, they included two very short bits about government response, one from Carol Browner, who must be taking lessons from Axelrod on how to blather on without saying anything, and the other a Justice Department attorney who admitted that the current laws he has to work with are worthless. No follow up on that, nothing about how the Feds dropped the ball, lied repeatedly, sided with BP over and over again, etc. Nothing about the impact and suffering in the region, the fake clean ups, the red tape and other scandals.

If you've got an hour to squander and have some blood pressure medicine and anger management book handy, I highly recommend it.
