On Internetular Friends and Compatriots

We don’t really have what I’d call “power” here in the blogosphere, not yet at least. But and still: it’s fascinating to read Open Left of late. If anyone can be said to be ’connected’ and ’in touch’ with the Village establishment, it’s these folks. And Dayum! Can you say, “not happy with Mr. Hope?”

It’s funny. Since I took my Pledge not to say anything negative about him until after November, it seems I can’t find anything but that in the progressive blogosphere. The feeling I have isn’t quite schadenfreude, nor bitterness, or even ’I told you so-ism,’ but the hope (heh) that it’s finally beginning, and we’re coming together to see that ’third way’ centrist DLC crap is just that. Crap. When ’mainstream’ blogs are getting it, I can’t help but smile.

Crack Den, Orange Satan, and Doggie commenters seem equally pissed. Which is Good. Remember how HRC came around, too late, and you see the model for how you can influence him. He’ll need us. Very badly, and soon.

Needing us

If obama needed us, he would have done something to indicate that. I’ve waited for months for him to give me something to make me want to vote for him. Nothing. Here’s a thought. Maybe dean, pelosi, the dnc, moveon, kos and many, many pro-obama blogs should have done due diligence before boosting obama. Now you’re too embarrased to admit you’ve made a mistake.

Hey, CD!

On not-quite schadenfreude:

Obama campaign

I wonder how much of this they are picking up on? I wonder if there really be sit in demonstrations.

As of a week ago or so...

… they didn’t even seem to know the word “PUMA.”

Hear no dissent, see now dissent…

Can he really go back though?

Even with pressure and the threat of losing a large percentage of his base, can he afford to change his mind again? The GOP is going to grill him for flipitty-flopping anyway, so if he goes back again does it compound the wishy-washy image or does it have the same essential impact regardless of how many times he changes his stances? (I realize that’s awkwardly phrased but I’m hoping you can get what I’m saying).

the pond

posting has been unusually slow at the Pond. Wonder if they are trying to decide what line to take.

AmericaBlog

Hilarity ensues!

I gave Obama $1175…

I gave Obama $600, but not another dime.

Let me see, if I translate that into ramen noodles….

Of course, Avarosis is the one who found it hard to make it on $75K…

[x] Very tepidly voting for Obama [ ] ?????. [ ] Any mullah-sucking billionaire-teabagging torture-loving pus-encrusted spawn of Cthulhu, bless his (R) heart.

Lambert, all that ramen talk

got you in trouble the last time!

It is kinda amusing to have half the comments being “OMG, he betrayed us!! How dare he??” (Like this was so totally unexpected)… and the other half being “But but but McCain is worse!”

Anyway, AmericaBlog is a cesspool.

Isn't there a third half somewhere?

Of, “Gee, I really owe all those Obama skeptics an apology” and “Maybe those superdelegates ought to reconsider.”

I’ll spare Lambert the work of typing a Simple Answer: “No.”

No because, as expected

in the middle of all this, there are always a few assholes who add “but Hillary would be the same.”

And remember when we were all supposed to have makeup sex at the end of the primary? I must have missed that part (for which I am grateful).

Suppose

Obama does come to realize he needs us. So what? He still only needs us until November 5. After that, he can - and will - treat us exactly as he is treating us now. We might be able to “influence” him into pandering towards us more, but we have no power to force him to follow through. And considering that he’s shown absolutely no sign of giving the most microscopic shit about us, what are the odds that he actually will do what we want when he doesn’t need us anymore?

I'm partial to the person

who thinks that the dissolution of the 4th Amendment just makes for “a really bad two weeks.” That’s it, just two weeks, then we’ll have the makeup sex.

I wonder how much time the expansion of the death penalty is worth? How ’bout an expression of love for free markets? I see that we’ve all moved past caring about public financing of campaigns, so I suppose that puts us back on the road to reunification with Obama.

I don’t have the stomach to look myself, but did Aravosis have anything to say about the expansion of Bush’s faith based initiatives? ’Cause you know that’s just code for (among other things) open discrimination against gays.

nadal: because there are hard choices to be made

and he will have to make them. in a post electoral reality, that is. politics don’t end after an election. indeed, i’m already being told of all the groups he’s shit upon, to whom he will return, hat in hand, once congress realizes it’s under a dem preznitcy, and the rulez change. hint: they will tell him that “there’s no money” for any program, grease or no, that he seeks to pass, even as they’ve written nothing but blank checks for chimpy. that’s going to end, the instant a dem takes office. i guarantee it.

don’t worry. he’ll come begging to us. because what, his friends in the SCLM will back him when he’s under fire? heh, don’t make me laugh.

i don’t forget this simple lesson. the great, Mighty, six years or more frontrunner herself, was on the phone with a Nobody from this blog, begging for support and defense. the same thing will happen to Mr. Hope. think upon what you’ll say to him then. and remind him, that he forgot.

No makeup sex

because what if I get pregnant? Apparently mental distress isn’t enough and I don’t have a pastor and my family is deeply conservative Catholic so how will I be able to get an abortion?

Go Hillary or Go Green!

Obama

doesn’t need us to get his legislation passed, he only needs the Dems in Congress - the same Dems, for the most part, who, as superdelegates, believe he shits gold nuggets and don’t even care if he rinses them off before he hands them out. We are nothing to the vast majority of these people. He won’t have to placate us to get what he wants if he makes it into the Presidency, anymore than Pelosi et al. have tried to placate us. We will be the ones begging, and I doubt very much if it will do us any good.

A very acute comment CD

Although, of course, there are at least 18 million “nobodies” just like me — and, it seems, more every day (or, perhaps, more are realizing it).

“Fuck ’em if they can’t take a joke,” say I.
