If obama needed us, he would have done something to indicate that. I’ve waited for months for him to give me something to make me want to vote for him. Nothing. Here’s a thought. Maybe dean, pelosi, the dnc, moveon, kos and many, many pro-obama blogs should have done due diligence before boosting obama. Now you’re too embarrased to admit you’ve made a mistake.

Even with pressure and the threat of losing a large percentage of his base, can he afford to change his mind again? The GOP is going to grill him for flipitty-flopping anyway, so if he goes back again does it compound the wishy-washy image or does it have the same essential impact regardless of how many times he changes his stances? (I realize that’s awkwardly phrased but I’m hoping you can get what I’m saying).

Obama does come to realize he needs us. So what? He still only needs us until November 5. After that, he can - and will - treat us exactly as he is treating us now. We might be able to “influence” him into pandering towards us more, but we have no power to force him to follow through. And considering that he’s shown absolutely no sign of giving the most microscopic shit about us, what are the odds that he actually will do what we want when he doesn’t need us anymore?

We are nothing to the vast majority of these people. He won’t have to placate us to get what he wants if he makes it into the Presidency, anymore than Pelosi et al. have tried to placate us. We will be the ones begging, and I doubt very much if it will do us any good.

Although, of course, there are at least 18 million “nobodies” just like me — and, it seems, more every day (or, perhaps, more are realizing it).
