Only women?

AP Newsbreak: SC gov 'crossed lines' with women. Only women? That's odd.

I mean, Sanford's a Republican, right?

Sanford is a classic

has no boundaries at all. He just keeps throwing up everything....more information that anyone really wants or needs and a set up to harm self and others. Appears he is doing this deliberately or is not aware that he is. He is trying to put the responsibility on Jennie Sanford, telling his sins in public, trying to make her so angry that she will say "enough". Then he will, of course use God for forgiveness.

Truth is he wants out of this marriage but apparently does not know how to do it with compassion and integrity. He really really needs to see a therapist.

Exactly, Elizabeth F

At first, I didn't get why he'd be further sabotaging himself like this. After all, no one needs to know these extra flings, or should I say that no one wins with him continuing to reveal them so pubically as an elected official. But, it's clear this is a kind of strange cry for help, whether he's conscious of it or not. No one gains from this. If he wants to sing responsibility, he'd do it as a resigned governor (i.e. a private citizen).

It's almost as if he's asking wife and kids to abandon him, so then he feels he has an excuse to resign. It's the weirdest kind of mind-fuck I've seen in quite some time, because anyone that exists outside of his perception of reality has seen that he's had an excuse from day one to resign his office.

This man's got issues, and it's the understatement of the year.

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

Sanford says he wants to "fall back in love wit his wife" --

During more than three hours of interviews over two days at his Statehouse office, Sanford said he is trying to fall back in love with his wife even as he grapples with his deep feelings for Chapur.

Sanford detailed more encounters with his mistress than he had disclosed during a rambling, emotional press conference last week. The new revelations Tuesday led the state attorney general to launch an investigation of his travels, and some are calling for him to step down.

(I was sure I'd posted this, but not here, so...post again.) (And not even a great post!)

And he won't step down

Because God doesn't want him to!

He who will not reason is a bigot; he who cannot is a fool; and he who dares not is a slave.
- Sir William Drummond

What do you wanna bet that he has said

more in public interviews than he has ever said to his wife in private?

I knew he was a goner when, in his presser last week, he acknowledged that he had hurt "her, hurt my children and...my wife" in that order.

If he wants to keep being the governor, he needs to stop dragging the people of South Carolina along on these public confessionals and just...govern. Not that he ever did that particularly well, but still...govern or get out.

Between the 24/7 picking at the bones of Michael Jackson, and this loser's mid-life crisis, I am confining myself to non-news TV to save my sanity.

Call me Ms. Offtopic...

...but Mike Malloy's going to be talking (or, knowing him, screaming) about the Taibbi article on tonight's show, which you can listen to at:

www.mikemalloy.com

...should be good...

Anna, post a link to a transcript, please

When/if you get one. Thanks!

Lambert, if you're talking about a transcript to the Malloy show

...I don't think they exist. They're so shoestring that they wouldn't do something like that. However, if you want a list of all of the affiliates that carry him (some stations don't run him live), Wikipedia "The Mike Malloy Show". And if you're of a mind to, I know there are a few BitTorrent places that archive him--the Pirate Bay, I think...Mininova, perhaps...

...oops...Malloy *used* to have a link up on his page

for live streaming, but I don't see it there now. The one I use on my RealPlayer, though, is:

Actually, it's Anne, with an "e" not an "a" but

in any event, here's a link to a transcript and here's the passage in question:

But here, recently, over this last year, it developed into something much more than that. And as a consequence I hurt her. I hurt you all, I hurt my wife, I hurt my boys. I hurt friends like Tom Davis. I hurt a lot of different folks.

And my bad - his wife comes after the mistress, after the people at the presser, but before his children.

And to be fair - which is a good thing to be - he does start out the presser by "first" apologizing to his wife - I must have missed the first reference in the clip I had seen, and so was quite startled by his putting the mistress first in the passage I highlighted.

If this frackwad wasn't a governor he'd be another cheap two-bit

adulterer, a garden-variety horndog, and not worthy of media attention let alone AP "reporter" Ms. Lush's description as a "tragic figure".

She also called him upset in her paean to his apologetic state of mind on NPR this afternoon (All Things Considered, haven't seen a transcript yet).

Why, if he's a serial adulterer and a known horndog, is that any more acceptable because he's also a politician?
