John Morgan reminds to watch what politicians fund rather than listen to what they say; he also gives us the happy news that the Pennsylvania House has voted to expand access to healthcare. Susie tells us that universal health insurance is not the same thing as universial health care. Greg Palmer reports that religious leaders are supporting Rendell’s health plan.

Thanks for the PA roundups!
Especially important given the importance of PA now…
[x] Any (D) in the general. [ ] Any mullah-sucking billionaire-teabagging torture-loving pus-encrusted spawn of Cthulhu, bless his (R) heart.
that's why I did it
so far I have been just following the primary calendar.
this generation of pols won't do it, and people don't yet
understand that, nor do they seem to want to. it saddens me. too many pols are for half-assed health care for some at a cost to the poorest. that’s the farthest most of them will go; they are too in the pockets of big pharma and insurance to say more.
we need to get rid of them. and replace them with progressives, or at least those who are progressive on health care. seriously, if we must have “blue dogs” let them be humane enough to vote in favor of more health care and fewer tax cuts for the rich and bombs. that’s easy enough.
but people who support (candidate X) in the belief that person will bring “real health care reform” are kidding themselves. i have this fear. when MA-style health care plans like the ones proposed now fail, i worry that people will sour on all notions of gov’t funded care. or at least, rethugs will play up those failures and some people will fall for that.
we can do this
In 1984 Ronald Reagan did not run on a platform of instituting sanctions against South Africa, yet that is what he would up doing. With sufficient pressure politicians can be induced to change course. Besides, the Cuomo investigation of UnitedHealth gives us the opportunity to delegitimize the insurance industry. I am going to keep blogging about this and and support any activity that I can to change course of this.
