Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN that they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin "going rogue."A Palin associate, however, said the candidate is simply trying to "bust free" of what she believes was a damaging and mismanaged roll-out.

A second McCain source says she appears to be looking out for herself more than the McCain campaign.
"She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," said this McCain adviser. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.
"Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom."

But this Palin source acknowledged that Palin is trying to take more control of her message, pointing to last week's impromptu news conference on a Colorado tarmac.
Tracey Schmitt, Palin's press secretary, was urgently called over after Palin wandered over to the press and started talking. Schmitt tried several times to end the unscheduled session.

Backfire! Snork. Snork.
More pigs snuffling off to a better trough.
A few of us caught CNN (2 McC, 1 reluctant O) -- raised both Governor Palin and Senator McCain in our esteem (if he sticks up for her).
Should've Let Her
About damned time. They should've have let her "go rogue" all along. Hell, they shouldn't have let McCain go rogue.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
CNN, MSNBC, NBC, NYT, Washington Post, NPR, Noe Valley Voice
The unending bias is absurd at this point.
They all sound like FOX news of the left now.
I don't believe anything they poop out.
And I love how the sexist description of female power continues -
"She's a diva" if she has her own opinions.
I guess that's better than how they described Hillary -
"Power hungry bitch" etc. etc.

I'd rather be a bitch than a diva
Sorry to disagree, Scoutt. "Bitch" at least acknowledges that one has power, even if it's enormously resented by others. "Diva" is a term that means a frivolous woman or a gay man, and it's usually applied to people in the entertainment industry, not politics or other more serious enterprises. Calling Palin a "Diva" is a term that's meant to shame her out of taking control of her campaign. (If she didn't, she'd be called a "pawn" or a "stepford candidate," a term meant to shame her for being too much under the control of the McCain campaign.) She can't win.
The talk show host on our local "progressive" radio station regularly calls Palin "Governor Gidget." That's just one of the many reasons I can't stomach that station any longer.
Is that really true?!?
I admit I'm not totally au courant with... Whatever this argot is, but I always give diva a connotation of power -- immense power and immense artistic achievement often allied to (and served by) immense temperament. Some focus on the temperament to trivialize the artist, but if the achievement is real, what does the rest matter? Almost by definition, a diva is on a world scale -- whereas a bitch is not world scale.
Of course, I may be wrong. And if it is true, than I am disappointed.

I can see that interpretation of 'Diva'
It's occasionally used in a positive way, whereas bitch is only a compliment from other bitches. I still think that "Diva" in this article is a way of trivializing her and patronizing her, a la "Governor Gidget" or all of those MILF references. That's been the media and popular read on Palin all along: she's just a toy VP candidate, a plaything, a playboy bunny, not someone to be respected or feared.
diva = temperment
I think diva is a term like 'high maintenance'.
I think diva is a self-importance and not necessarily indicative of achievement. More like self-confident, or self-delusional, or just self-important.
yup--Diva's not about achievement
think Miss Piggy whenever you see that word--it's about being a monster and egomaniac -- and treating everyone around you badly and as slaves.
Bitches accomplish things on their own--Divas demand and scream for others to do everything for them.
From Merriam
From Merriam Webster:
Italian, literally, goddess, from Latin, feminine of divus divine, god
a usually glamorous and successful female performer or personality especially : a popular female singer
From Wikipedia:
The Italian term is used to describe a woman of rare, outstanding talent in the world of opera, and by extension in theatre and popular music. The meaning of 'diva' is closely related to that of "prima donna".
Thank you, Hobson
It would seem a better strategy to reclaim the term, in its true meaning, rather than allow those who would wish to trivialize feminine achievement to seize it for their purposes...

Yeah
This is all very tabloidy:
"A Palin associate"
"Several McCain advisers"
"A second McCain source"
BTW, I heard that she's increasingly breaking away from her two appointed aids that were former Bushies. And, that's a bad thing, how? lol Hearing this doesn't make her a more acceptable candidate, for me, but it sure makes her more likeable as a person.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
Yes, it's in there if you read it. The Bush media nazi Wallace offers her body to be thrown under a bus as a loyal Bushie should do. I still think her YT video is one of the best moments.
I have to say that I don't follow the Palin story...
... since the coverage elsewhere seems wall to wall, so why bother, but am I the only one who finds the coverage of Palin's makeup reminiscent of the jokes about Edward's hair, and the fake story about Clinton's haircut?
Just because they're fawning over a new Leader doesn't make the fawning any different from what it is, as I'm sure Somerby would point out.

more about the chaos in McCain camp
This article to me was more about disgruntled staff going to the media. What kind of staffer would ever say this diva stuff even if you didn't like how things are going.
It reminds me of this glimpse into McCain campaign from The.Uptake http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiYl9Mno9rM
Yes, it's the same sexist theme as the $400 haircut(s),
the John "Breck Girl" Edwards thing, the Gore autumnal colors thing, the Kerry poofy windsurfer thing.
But Rove's boy Larson was spending a whole lot more money on making sure their RNC Trophy VEEP looked hot hot hot.
(Wink, wink. Nod nod. Say no more, say no more.)

The McCain camp called it
I read they're already circulating their resumes. Good luck with that. Of course, wingnut welfare will take care of them all; that will not change....

Does This All Mean...
...that Obama has run the best campaign? Remember when Hillary's aides were supposedly dueling in the media? I want everyone's opinion. Is this a real disintegration of Camp McCain like the media portrayed a disintegration of Team Clinton, or is this a result from the media focusing in on one campaign and making news? I take it everyone over in the Obama Nation gets along like old friends, then? Call me skeptical.
If this all happens to be true, it would confirm what I've believed of Palin for some time, now, and that is that her Village
handlers are pissed at her because she refuses to speak fluent Villagese, with them, and refuses to play by Village
Rules.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
I think that there is disarray in the McCain camp...
...but its McCain's fault.
McCain wanted to run a "positive" campaign, and was going nowhere. Then the "rock star" ads came out, and McCain's numbers started improving. Then McCain chose Palin to reinforce the "maverick" image, and tried to run a campaign based on that message, rather than on the "Obama is not ready" message that would have worked -- the media itself would have raised ayres and wright (all McCain had to do was reference Rezko and Chicago, the media would have gone from there.)
Not the Best Campaign.
Obama is the recipient, through synchronicity or dumb good luck or karma or whatever, of the very best circumstances, ones that are benefiting him, and are ruining McCan.

See anything out of the ordinary? Something that they don't ever do (or, at least I've never seen this done)? Yes, this time, they are finishing the job. No, they aren't even pretending, anymore.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
Yes
I agree. It is McCain's fault. I hope that you were being snarky, because if you're not that is about as good as revisionist history gets, my friend. You know, the whole "McCain was just minding his own business unitl _______" thing. If Team McCain is in disarray, it's because of Team McCain.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
Diva as VP vs. Diva as Pres--
i'd say Obama wins that one (and Biden is quite the aging egomaniac Diva as well).
The lowness of his campaign
The lowness of his campaign could have something to do with his feeble attempt to try to take advantage of a disastrous economy. He looked ridiculous stiffing Letterman while appearing on Katie Couric. And when he did go on Letterman, he got skewered by him both in the introduction and the interview.
What I find interesting is the apparent lack of unity between him and his VP choice. I doubt that her instincts are any better than McCain's. She has a limited appeal, especially the more you find out about her. She's done what she was intended to do, solidify the base of the party that still supports Bush.
