The paradox of Lieberhate

lambert's picture

Since Lieberman's obviously working toward Obama as he guts the last remnants of the positive from the Senate bill, why the constant two minutes of Lieberhate from "progressives?"

I mean, why not ask The Commander-In-Chief, Leader Of The Free World, Head Of The Democratic Party, and The Greatest Orator EVAH what he thinks? Maybe he could talk to Joe?

Just a thought. I mean, I'm not a strategerist.

Lieberhate is absurd

If Dems *wanted*, they could pass a bill under reconciliation which prevents filibusters. This is something I mentioned way back when, before this bill started. I remember back then, my edumacated betters thought I was referring to conference committee 'reconciliation'. But the fact is, the only reason Lieberman has the power to thwart this bill or further weaken it is because Dems want the same thing that Lieberman does. Using him as a scapegoat is terrific to help raise money for the DSCC and the DCCC and the DNC so all the people with "high esteem jobs" can still have jobs. In a well run society would we need to have highly paid political operatives with their high-esteem job salaries?

Only tyrants rig elections.

By giving in to Sen. Joseph Lieberman's (I-Conn.) demands on health care legislation, Senate Democratic leadership may have moved closer to blocking a Republican filibuster. But they've also made reform far less popular.

Lieberman's insistence that a government-run insurance option (as well as a provision to expand Medicare) be stripped from the bill has moved Democrats and the White House towards the wrong side of public opinion.
