Oh, my sweet risen Christ. This is going to be soooo much fun. Who do you think should play the Jesus wealthy enough to afford a family crypt? McGirk is right, that’s a little pricey for a peacenik son of a carpenter who never really held a real job. And Mary- well, she has to be played by a hottie; who else could tempt the son of god down off the cross? No, I won’t make a bunch of jokes in poor taste. I’ll leave that to the fundies, whom I’m sure will be out in force if this actually makes it to the big screen. Heh. Mel doesn’t know what kind of tomb of worms he’s opened up, since making it OK to profit from your own personal interpretation of the Nazarene.

Big screen?
Uh, CD, you need to read the story more carefully - the story is about a documentary that’s done, not about a movie that’s yet to be filmed. As McGirk said, “News about the film, which will be shown soon on Discovery Channel, Britain’s Channel 4, Canada’s Vision, and Israel’s Channel 8, has been a hot blog topic in the Middle East.”
Things showing soon on the Discovery Channel are not going to make it to the big screen.
(Note: use of the term documentary does not imply factual accuracy. See, for example, Stolen Honor.)
The world may now continue to explode. The fun part is that liberal theology figured out a long time ago that the physical resurrection is not necessary for Jesus to be the Son of God or the Messiah. See, for example, here.
oh, fine, matt, spoil my late night fun
you try blogging with three kittens running around and jumping into your lap.
and i agree with you about the overuse of the word “documentary.” i get so sick and tired of hearing people tell me that they “know” something because they heard about it on the Discovery channel. sigh. somehow, that’s become as authoritative as a panel of PhDs presented peer reviewed papers.
Same people that would have rejected him alive
They found the name of Jesus and the members of his family in the tomb. He was a great speaker, teacher, and now a loving husband and father. His tomb should be given honor. His family respected.
People that say otherwise are mentally ill. If they saw him when he was alive with his family, they would have dishonored him then.
Give the man a break. Let us be thankful that this shows the other religions of the world that he existed. We should thank God for this find. And remind ourselves how special it is that he got to rest in peace with his whole family, wife and kid.
