I just wish "public option" advocates could figure out what to call whatever it is they're advocating. Leader Pelosi:
Ms. Pelosi said the public plan, which she prefers to call a "consumer option," would compete with private insurers. But the speaker was apparently unable to muster the votes needed for the 'robust' liberal version of a public plan, which she has repeatedly said would save more money for consumers and the government.
Dammit! Now I've got to change:
[a|the][strong|robust]? [Federalist]? public [health insurance?] [option|plan]
to:
[a|the][strong|robust]? [Federalist]? [public|consumer] [health insurance?] [option|plan]
I mean, it used to be whatever else the ... "public option" was, at least it was public; that was the constant factor.
Versailles
wants to continue to be consumers of for-profit health insurance, which delivers as much care as is consistent with as much profit as possible, as opposed to citizens for whom health care is a right. That's why Versailles
, including our "progressive" access bloggers, took single payer off the table from the start. So, in a way, the honesty of "consumer" is a refreshing change from the dishonesty of "public."
Meanwhile, I think I know what to call it:
Shit sausage.
NOTE If the Dems had any agenda in mind other than reinforcing for-profit health insurance indefinitely, they'd strip out the goody bag, pass it immediately, and start over from square one. They don't and they won't.

If 2% of the population
being covered is robust and strong or even medium strength I am hestitant to ask Madame Speaker what a weak consumer option would look like? Personally, I could care less what she calls the option she is "selling" I ain't buying.

Consumer option?
I really, really hate that. When did citizens become nothing more than consumers? I recently road the DC Metro and was startled when I heard the usual reminder about not blocking the doorways. Apparently "passengers" have become "consumers" as well.
I find that shocking and alarming at almost a cellular level.
Simple
Just rename private insurance "the producers option". Makes it easier down the road to deep six the "consumers option". The poor can continue to be focused as an immoral drag on the hard earned producers' financial resources. It really takes the heat off our soon-to-be vassalage to the insurance industry."Profits over people"!
