Plantidote of the Day 2012-11-06
Election Day Rose
Raise your hand if this rose looks like how you feel after being dragged through months of ridiculous politicking, conniving, and chicanery. Yeah, me, too.
Normally, Plantidote is here to remind us that there's a better world out there, beyond the idiotic pundits, professional opportunists, "leaders" who consider accidental victims of their horrific drones "bug splat," and serial criminals who think someone getting food stamps needs to experience sacrifice. Today, I'm not doing that. Too many people are hurting in too many different ways, and our leaders are oblivious, locked in a faux battle to see who gets to take the next swing at the pinata filled with poor people. No matter which one wins, we know who loses -- us. There's no way to paint a pretty face on that or pretend it's not happening. Sorry to be so down, but I think the occasion calls for it.
The regular, happier Plantidote will be back soon. Right now, I haz a pissed off :-(
Readers, please send twig (email@example.com) images and stories for the ongoing Plantidote of the Day series. In exchange, you'll win undying fame in the form of a hat tip! Plants growing in your garden, your house, or neighbor's yard, plants from the forest or farmers' market, plants you preserved, plants you prepared (wine; cider; tea; dried beans), plants you harvested (grains; chantrelles), plants you picked (flowers), plants you dried (herbs), plants you covet or hope to grow someday. Herbal remedies, propagation tips, new varieties, etc.. And if you can, include some solid detail about the plant, too -- a story, the genus and species, or where you got the seeds, or the recipe, or your grandmother gave it to you. Or challenge us with a "Name That Plant" mystery entry ... And please feel free to add corrections and additional information in the comments.
