Policy, policy, policy

What Kos said:

Now if someone argues that Hillary is not electable, I'll roll my eyes just as much as I am at the notion that Obama doesn't have a path to the White House. They both do. And while it's not the same path, we'll be favored to win the White House no matter who the nominee is. Any statements to the contrary are quite frankly lacking in reality.

Bingo. In fact, a focus on "electability," which has nothing to do with substance, and is all about media-fuelled narratives like "momentum," is exactly the sort of vacuous talking point I'd expect to be pushed by the OFB.

And since we win either way, can we also put that vacuous rhetoric about "Yes we can" and "hope" to bed, because it's gotten a little tired and cranky?

Of course we can. We're fucking Democrats, and we're going to work like demons to win. And hard work is why there's "hope," for pity's sake, not because some motivational speaker told us that there was.

In fact, as Kos memorably said:

Obama’s path to the nomination at this point runs through Democratic voters. And ultimately, while my absentee ballot will be mailed out Monday with his name checked off, I’m pessimistic that he can win. He has shown no proclivity for speaking in unambiguous progressive tones, and it could cost him the election.

So, tell me again why a progressive would vote for Obama? Call me "cynical," as Obama has, but I care about policy.

And I happen to prefer Hillary on both Social Security and universal health care.

So, I'd rather win with Hillary and get a solid progressive mandate, than win with Obama and flimsy set of motivational talking points. Eh?

My problem...

is that I can clearly see the path to the Clinton victory, including the "roadblocks" that the "clinton rules" will throw in her path.

what I don't see clearly is what happens when Obama is subjected to "the Clinton rules" as was Gore and Kerry. This is especially true given this statement from Obama...

He said Clinton's research operation was "about as good as anybody's," and it hasn't found much dirt on him.

"I assure you that having engaged in a contest against them for the last year, that they've pulled out all the stops.

If Obama really thinks that was an "all stops out" campaign, I have no confidence that he will know what to do when the GOP attack machine goes after him. (I mean, the only time Hillary mentioned Rezko was a 'counterpunch' to Obama's low blow about Hillary being on Walmart's board. Does he really think the GOP smear machine is going to be that restrained?)

Why do progressives like

Why do progressives like Kos vote for Obama. "It's the ratings, stupid". As the "O-bots" clamor for the top spot on the DailyKos rec list, the ad revenues come in-in-in.

Maybe it's destroying the site? KOS says so what. He'll take his revenues and move on to something else. He can write a book about how Hllary destroyed the site, and the "O-bots" will clamor for that too.

The "progressive netroots" is no more.
