“As is true in all conventions, we’re still working out the mechanics, the coordination,” Obama said. One such issue is whether there will be a convention roll call on Clinton’s nomination, he said.
“I’m letting our respective teams work out details,” he said.

NOTE OK, it’s not a war, it’s the horserace. Lovely headline about Bill Clinton speaking, though. This, which is the real story, was buried.

Hillary was right about this
in those comments the other day. Have the damn roll call and let people at least feel they got their 2 cents in. He will win it handily, and it would give him some of the actual legitimacy in some people’s minds that he doesn’t really possess now.
He doesn’t get that you can’t win over even grudging support of dissenters by smothering them and denying their own legitimacy. He’s got the overwhelming upper hand here, and there’s nothing he should be afraid of in a roll call.
It’s entirely about control, I think.
Remember when
there was a kerfuffle about stealing “pledged delegates”, because those delegates were supposed to vote for their candidate on the first ballot? Wouldn’t that logically imply that every candidate deserved a place on the first ballot roll call (never mind that it almost always has happened that way)?
