The Village
is the few thousand people inside the Beltway who control the political life of the country; they are responsible for managing the Overton Window, for example. They are thoroughly bi-partisan. They all know each other, and they all fuck each other (both senses). The term "Village" (my term was Versailles on the Potomac) captures their provincialism, their pettiness, and how small (all senses) they really are. I believe Village is also the name of a horror movie that Digby had in mind.

What Krugman Said--Just Say No to the Bad Bank concept
The good professor is not a fan of the "Bad Bank" movement.
This cannot stand.
And, to correct an earlier comment, it's asking the 80% with only 16% of the wealth (robbing Peter) to pay for gambling mistakes of the 20% who made out like bandits during the good times and now to make up for their gambling losses (paying Paul)! Yikes!
Who's backing this crap? Will Dems let this happen?

but also dangerous eliminationist rhetoric. I understand, truly understand, they would do far worse to us, they did far worse in sending so many of our brothers and sisters off to war for their amusement, but really, dangerous talk.
I don't kid when I call Obama a Kerensky Democrat, if we are not careful we will wind up with Lenin or Robespierre.
