As we have predicted, Republicans will try to continue their disinformation campaign and spin every event to blame government and Democrats - in particular, Obama.
First, Republicans didn't vote for the stimulus package, so as later to pin it's success or failure on Democrats. They have successfully convinced the larger public that they had no input to it. Nevermind all those tax cuts they had put into the bill before it ever reached the floor and the numerous social programs which they prevented from being in the bill in the first place - and as we know, had some removed after it got to the floor (birth control? hah, take some Viagra, that's covered). The media is going along with the story that Republicans had no input into the bill. And now...
Now we have the blame game getting into full swing regarding who is responsible for the financial crisis in the first place. Up to now, I thought we had a general consensus - greedy folks like Madoff, the financial wizards who invented get-rich-quick schemes such as credit default swaps, highly paid CEOs who treated their compensation packages like weapons in a testosterone war (laying off employees to see if they could boost their income just a little bit higher than the CEO next door).
The WSJ however, is busy laying the groundwork for the next Republican PR salvo. Who's the real culprit in the financial mess?
How Government Created the Financial Crisis
If you're trying to drown the government in the bathtub, then the cause of the financial crisis is the government. Pretend, loudly and repetitively, that there's no difference between ALLOWING a problem to exist and CREATING a problem.
While it certainly is true that looking the other way while a crime is committed will get you in big trouble, it's not really the same thing as actually firing the gun. The government is more like the onlooker who says 'Oh, did you kill someone? Well, he's dead so there's nothing I can do about it. Carry on.' If you want to prevent the next murder, you need to catch the guy with the gun not the one yawning over in the corner doing nothing about it. But if you're a Republican, you want to drown the guy in the corner so he won't even see the next shooting. There's no murder going on if you can't even see it, right? And there's certainly no murderer if you didn't see a crime.
I have no idea how to combat this crap but fyi, it's the latest pile of steaming dung being served up by your Republican disinformation campaign. Eat up!

Problem is the guy didn't note that gov't under BushCo was NOT
actual government of the people, etc.; it was kleptocracy of the uberwealthy, for the uberwealthy, and by the uberwealthy.
Just edit his piece, putting in BushCo, his cronies, his Brownie-type appointments, and add the actions of the Repub controlled Congresses. Stir and server -- money to the uberwealthy.
