Please leave new "sightings" of Proof Platinum Coin Seigniorage items -- whether old or new -- in comments below, or contact the blog!

And see here [2] for an interpretation of the data, at least from the perspective of the blogosphere.

NOTE The number of items seems to challenge the scale of the map. I should debug the map to make sure the background and all of the phases look perfect... And when I have time I will!

DIRECTIONS

1. Click in a blank area and drag right to go back in time. Drag left to go forward in time.

2. Dragging the top (summary) timeline drags the bottom (detail) timeline along with it, but faster.

3. Tickmarks in the top timeline show links in the bottom timeline.

4. Click a link/dot for a popup with more information, including a link to the original.

NEW Here is a table of the same data [3], which you can sort and search by author, title, and date.

METHODOLOGY
Here I am collecting all the material I have found so far on the Proof Platinum Coin Siegniorage (PPC/PCS) concept. We can see, way back in 2010, the epicenter of The Coin concept, which may surprise you: blogger beowulf at Warren Mosler's blog -- and this blog, Corrente. Much of the material is taken from a history of The Coin [4] written by letsgetitdone. Other material was found by following link trails outward. Still other material was taken by searching for "platinum" (at Cullen Roche's sites, for example). Contemporary material came from Google, Twitter, reader mail, and following link trails outward from posts.

I'm seeking to trace the origination and transmission of ideas -- or, as we say these days, "memes." Therefore, although I seek to curate an exhaustive collection of links, I quote interesting or unique, rather than representative, material. "Me too" content and reposts are under-represented.

Any mistakes, of course, are my own, and they will exist: I figured out my workflow as I encountered the data, and I'm sure I haven't backfilled all inconsistencies. In addition, I came up through the left blogosphere, and so my ability to search and sort on material from the right is not as strong as it could be. Please contact the blog or leave comments with corrections or additional links: We want the record to be complete and accurate!

LEGEND
=This timeline collects all the material I have been able to find so far on the Proof Platinum Coin (PPC) concept. It shows, way back in 2010, the epicenter of The Coin concept, which may surprise you: blogger beowulf at Warren Mosler's blog -- and this blog. Much of the material is taken from a history of The Coin written by letsgetitdone. Other material was found by following link trails outward. Still other material was taken by searching for "platinum" (at Cullen Roche's sites, for example). Contemporary material came from Google and Twitter and reader mail. The timeline also shows that there are long stretches where posting is light and done by few, and then phases of activity that reach the mainstream; these are generally generated by budget crises. Here are the phases:

Phase 1 Exchanges in blog comments and e-mail conversations between beowulf (Carlos Mucha) and Joe Firestone (letsgetitdone). (November/December 2010)

Phase 2 Early blogging period: January 3, 2011 - late June 2011

Phase 3 Acceleration of blogging: Late June - July 14, 2011

Phase 4 First Mainstream Wave and blogger response: July 14 (Salmon) - 08/01/2011 (Fullwiler) includes lots of posts in the period including Balkin.

Phase 5 Post debt ceiling compromise period: August 2, 2011 - December 2, 2012. Mostly characterized by many blogs from myself, some from wigwam, occasionally from beowulf, Mike Sankowski, and Cullen Roche, with occasional mentions from MMT economists, and others who remembered the first wave.

Phase 6 Second Mainstream Wave with blogosphere response from December 3, 2012 - present

CAVEAT The timeline is reasonably complete thanks to letsgetitdone, but during bursts of activity there may have been posts that he or I missed. Phase 5 is especially sparse. It's a big Internet!

UPDATE Here's how the timeline navigation works. Basically, the overview track at the bottom is faster to drag. So, in the overview track, drag to where you see a lot of tickmarks, and you'll see a lot of posts in the upper, main track.
