Medicare for All would save $350 billion a year (study in New England Journal of Medicine).
In 2003, a young Illinois state senator named Barack Obama told an AFL-CIO meeting, "I am a proponent of a single-payer universal healthcare program*." -- Bill Moyers.
* Medicare For All.

McClatchy also has new report on Gitmo, whole series--

Here is the link for the Day One article.
Lots and lots of reading; lots and los of reasons for Obama to take a look backwards and make the mistakes of BushCo known. This cannot be repeated.
Damn, having him in the WH is almost more work than trying to fight BushBoy and Cheney. Since we had no hope of changing BushCo's objectives and tactics, we could analyze, memorialize. But we do have a responsibility to change (should that be capitalized?) Obama's rightward meanderings (unless, of course, their clear objectives for him...).
If he takes down the Dem Party, what will follow? That kind of unknowable makes working to change Obama's direction even more important.
We need to tell him that we're the Change that he's been waiting for.
He can start with full fledged investigations of Gitmo, torture, BushCo directives, etc.
Then single payer.... (Hey, I can dream, right?)
Actually
He can start with a much sooner shuttering of Gitmo than he's apparently planned while he's investigating Bush's abuses.
This is just sick.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
