The grandfather of a friend was hospitalized this weekend. Since that time, my friend has been at the hospital, at her grandfather's house to clean up and find paperwork, dealing with her family dynamics that put her in the position of being the "adult" even though she is the grandchild, and taking care of her family at home.

She is exhausted!

There isn't much I can do to help her but I can bring her a "hot dish". Read below the fold...

This pasta salad fails the "5 rule" so kids won't eat it, but that's ok because it is really tasty for adults and you will have to eat theirs. I always slice the extra 1/2 cucumber and give it to the kids.

I think I am getting into my tomato kick. All summer long I am a compulsive tomato buyer. I can't pass a farmers market without stopping to admire the tomatoes and I even grow them. I have to dream up new ways to serve them just to use what I end up having on hand!

But it isn't quite time for local tomatoes so I am forced to buy tomatoes from the store that just aren't the same! They barely qualify as tomatoes.
