Reporter asked if I regretted giving money to Senator Clinton

I would be interested to know if anyone else has been contacted by the media looking for this information. I got a call this AM from a features reporter, Sam Hemmingway, at the Burlington Free Press [VT]. He called me after finding that I had been contributing to Senator Clinton’s campaign regularly and for some time.

His main question was: “Do you regret spending all that money on a losing candidate?”

I answered that it was the DNC and not the voters that say she lost and in any event, I did not regret supporting her. I went on to say that the election was illegal because —

Given ALL instead of half of the votes she had won that were cast FOR HER by the voters in Florida and Michigan, and taking away from Obama the “UNCOMMITTED” votes plus 4 stolen from her in Michigan by the Rules Committee she would stand the winner today.

We talked for some time concerning the sexism, media bias etc.

One other thing of interest was that Sam offered the information that in looking through the contributions, it appeared that many people came in with monetary support for Hillary near the end of the campaign. He recognized that people were trending her way. Seems to me that explains the illegal actions of the Rules Committee.

On an other but related topic, this article is worth a read.

I couldn't be happier about my donations

To Hillary’s campaign. I have to hold myself back from chipping in even now.

on giving

senator clinton got more of our money (my wife and I) by hundreds of $ than any other candidate at any level has ever gotten from us,

or probably ever will again, though there will certainly many fine candidates coming along at all levers of govt.

clinton was special - a rare political leader.

and

her cause was special - a practical, solve problems for people democratic party.

Giving to Clinton

not only did i chip in on a regular basis starting in january, but i travelled from NY to PA 4 weeks in a row to campaign for her. i spent a considerable amount of money on gas and hotels (5 nights) so that i could spend the whole weekend and stay for election night. when i add up what i spent not only does it surpass by far what i’ve donated in the past, but it more than doubles all of my political donations to date which include hillary’s senate campaign, wes clark (2004), john edwards (2004 & 2007), and ned lamont (2006)… i don’t regret one penny of it and it’s not like i’m rich either (i have 2 kids in private colleges who recieve some financial aid, but still force me, willingly of course, to spend my retirement savings.) i would give more if it meant that hillary could fight on, but at this point, i’m on hold unless something unforeseen happens. there is no doubt in my mind that i won’t give a penny to obama or the DNC. obama will be lucky to get my vote, so he had better start talking to hillary’s supporters like he means it. all of his “this is our moment” and “yes we can” is like fingernails on a chalkboard. how about addressing some real issues with some hillary-like specifics?

I gave more to Clinton

than I have given to any other individual candidate ever, and by quite a bit — the last time on Tuesday night. I would love for a reporter to call me so that I could explain why. And if there is any shred of possibility at all that she would ever re-enter the race, I will be right there ready to give more. But my largesse (much like the largesse of Obama’s supporters, I suspect) was candidate specific and will not extend to the DNC, the DCCC or the DSCC. Any candidate who either engaged in the pile-on of Clinton at any point, or who remained silent during the onslaught of hatred and misogyny, can likewise forget about my support. I have a very long memory and I will not forget or forgive what I have witnessed for a very, very long time.

twandx, you’ll have to give us a heads-up when/if the article gets published.

I maxed out to her

I’ve never even come close with any other candidate. I don’t regret a single penny.

IPHIE - your heads up re article publication

Article was published today - turned out to be about BO support as well as interviews with Hillary supporters.

I found it bland and generic and reporter subtracted six years from my age - he doubtless has no damn idea how sexist that is. I’ve earned every year surviving in this macho land.

Here’s the URL as requested - should be good for today at least.
