Rudy Giuliani's Wife Judi Is A Puppy Murderer

There is a disturbing story today in the NY Post. Judi Nathan worked for US Surgical for four years, and demonstrated their stapling technique. What the company would do was procure dogs, cut them open, staple them up to demonstrate the product's efficiency to the doctors. Those dogs who survived the surgery were euthanized. She worked there for four years.

In Sunday's Post, Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign spokesman, Michael McKeon, said of Judi Giuliani's work with U.S. Surgical, "She was in the operating room hundreds of times, using her nursing skills and training doctors in the stapling technique."

Asked yesterday about the procedure being performed on dogs, McKeon said, "I've never heard any of this before."

Then McKeon said he would have to ask Judi.

Finally, he said only that Judi had not been involved in procuring dogs for sales demonstrations - but did not comment on whether she participated in demonstrations involving dogs.

In other words, somebody else got the puppies, Judi just butchered and killed them for demonstrations to doctors. I think Rudy might be right. Both on marriage #3, they are soul mates.

In defense of puppy murderers

You knew somebody was going to say it, you just probably didn't expect it to be me.

I am not, repeat not, sticking up for Judykins here. I don't know what this device was but from the description this was purely a sales pitch and could have been performed just as easily on a plastic dummy of some sort.

But...I do not want a doctor using this device for the first time on the flesh of my son. Or, okay, me for that matter. Or even you.

I want her to have practiced the shit out of it, mastered every quirk of the device and best methods of placement in the organ or skin or whatever it is intended to be used on. I am assuming this gadget is a little more complicated than yer average desktop Swingline, so.....

Animal experimentation is always going to be a touchy subject. But even in this sales pitch scenario--much less in actual teaching environments like medical school--can we lay down some rules? As long as the animal in question is adequately sedated and promptly and humanely euthanized I see no grounds for condemnation here.

As long as we are producing and then putting to death x thousands of unwanted pets annually in shelters all over the country, I see no moral reason not to use some of their deaths to promote improved medical care and thereby life for others. Otherwise I don't see the difference between us and the goofball anti-choicers who would rather have all the "snowflake babies" flushed down sewers rather than use their few days of utterly insensate life to produce stem cells for medical research.

Let the flaming begin....

My Flame

This could have been done a few times on video. From that point on, they could have ponied up the extra money for ballistics gel, and fake blood to demonstrate in person after showing the tape. Hundreds or even thousands of dogs were needlessly euthanized just for a sales pitch here.

I am not totally opposed to all animal research. Cosmetics and sales pitches though are no brainers for me.

CD, check your mail please!

OT. I'm going to return to waterboarding Karl, now.

UPDATE Hello, hello? My DSL is on the fritz, so I've got to go offline shortly.
