It is just hard for me to believe that with our prisons being such the industry they are, with our prisons being the slave labor factories that they are, that our outrage and concern would be for a dog.

Teaching tolerance, and first teaching how to move away from intolerance, is so damn difficult. The ones who can be reached are those for whom it’s just a lazy habit, but nearly impossible for those who need to denigrate whole populations of others in a vain attempt to fill some internal empty space. It was a high school civics teacher who opened my eyes, so here’s a tip o’ the cap to enlightened teachers like he and Woody, and a general condemnation of bigotry in all its forms.
