The text of HR676 (Medicare For All) as PDF (30 pages). The FAQ. Compare HR3200 with HR676.
Medicare for All would save $350 billion a year (study in New England Journal of Medicine).
In 2003, a young Illinois state senator named Barack Obama told an AFL-CIO meeting, "I am a proponent of a single-payer universal healthcare program*." -- Bill Moyers.

Robert Kuttner on Fresh Air-Exc. explanation of why HOLC needed.
Sees Larry Summers as carrying too much baggage of free trade and dereg to be Sec Treas. Sees NY Fed President Tim Geithner as great choice. OR, Sheila Bair, head of FDIC, who is a twofer: She has been an excellent manager of bank takeovers and works to get mortgage relief worked into the takeover conditions--AND--she is a Repub. A sensible, responsible, socially aware Repub.
I'm not sure when audio available, but here's site. Definitely worth the time to listen.
Huh. Think I forgot to hit Post button--anyway, checked Economy
and Healthcare. On Economy, looks like chump change for Main Street as opposed to the $Trillion Plus (how many Trillions is unknown) for Big Banker Boyz and their ilk.
On Healthcare, ooooh, electronic record keeping will really cut costs and make insurance more affordable. uh huh. And shaking a stern finger at for-profits will really make them shape up!
Lots of work for those who feel Obama's Change needs some change.
First of all, he should listen to Kuttner!!! Do we send the audio link to him?
Kuttner re: healthcare-Thinks Obama can't do healthcare up front
Must save ecnomy first. Do healthcare in Year Two or Three. Well, three is too late, as campaigning begins then. Year Two is campaigning for Congress Critters.
Here I strongly disagree with Kuttner. Must be part of economic recovery/security plans. For all the reasons that have been discussed, but obviously without healthcare, people are simply too insecure to be daring and entrpreneurial.
It's not just a nicety--it's a necessity and a right (Remember, Obama--you told us that).
Is everyone being deliberately stupid about healthcare?
(Where by "everyone," I mean the Serious
People.)
We've got to get health care costs under control. It's one of the biggest drags on the economy and one of the biggest causes of personal bankruptcy, not to mention hundreds of other ills.
Solving the health care crisis is not a separate matter from fixing the economy.
We've got to keep getting that message out there.

Wow. Just, wow. That website is scary. Everything has to be
on a grand scale with historic proportions. Everything seems so weighty and important. I feel so inconsequential and small. Did I say historic?
Change.gov. It couldn't have been Barackobama.gov, no that's so..yesterday.
I love this job!

Funny...
... because when I posted this, the screen was solid blue and said "Under Construction," and the font wasn't even Gotham.

Well, f*ck 'em
if they don't use Gotham.

Yes, I saw the initial site
I thought it was so badly done that it couldn't be official. It looked like some middle school kid did basic HTML. But now it's all fancy.
I already sent my "American Moment." Basically, I avoided snark and pushed for comprehensive immigration reform, which is desperately needed. I'm scared that with Rahm at the head, a man who said last year they won't try anything until the second term of a Democratic president, that it could be shelved. Why wait?
Hey, it's not a fundraising mechanism!
And they changed the font to a government-style font. Now, if they could only get rid of the airbrush effect, which has really unfortunate connotations.
Plus, they only want an email address and a zip. "No salesman will call."
I said that if they want to make health care a human right, there's only one way to do that: Single payer, as in HR 676.

They know all about you from your zip
F'rexample, they probably know from my zip that I'm a Latino, probably Dominican. Heh, NOT.
One more way in which I'm Invisible.
