Seems like the word "Christianist" gets under The Bug Man's skin

What a shame. And we try so hard to be Civil. Guess we'll have to stop using it. Not.

Here's the post Tom DeLay paid some staffer to write on his [cough] blog, all about the Christian Embassy video that Crooks&Liars (courageously) posted:

CrooksandLiars.com goes so far as to label the members of this organization, 'Christianists.'

Zing! Hey, Tom! Haven't you been reading your Lakoff? To repeat the "Christianist" frame is to repeat it!

Hopefully, within a very short time, we'll see Christianists all over the teebee denying that they're "Christianists" (and denying that their leaders beat their wives, molest children, take drugs, are gay... Oh, wait. We don't have any examples of Christianist leaders beating their wives. Sorry!)

But in the spirit of the great LBJ, who instructed us "Come, let us reason together," we find ourselves in strange agreement with the next portion of DeLay's post:

Well, I urge you to watch the video and judge for yourself the danger presented by this reckless band of Christian brothers, because if there is truly a more important issue facing the United States Defense Department at the present time apart from defeating the ongoing radical Christianist insurgency in the Pentagon, I certainly haven't heard of it.

Just in case Our Tom was being ironic, let's explain why "defeating the ongoing Christianist insurgency" at the Pentagonn really is important:

1. Coercive evangelism violates the law.

2. Coercive evangelism destroys unit cohesion.

3. Coercive evangelism is an abuse of power.

And the Christianists, by using the workplace and my dime to do their evangelism, aren't doing their jobs because they'd rather do Bible study.

Of course, if Iraq is what happens when Christianists are only working part time, maybe we don't want them working full time. It's an ill wind, isn't it?
