Send a Unity Pony to the Middle East, pronto

Bush travels to the Middle East and speads his message of hope and democracy war and terror. This was his recent comments at The Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research in Abu Dhabi.

“Iran’s actions threaten the security of nations everywhere. So the United States is strengthening our long-standing security commitments with our friends in the Gulf and rallying friends around the world to confront this danger before it is too late.

“Iran is today the world’s leading state sponsor of terror. It sends hundreds of millions of dollars to extremists around the world while its own people face repression and economic hardship at home,” he said in his keynote speech.

I may have gotten that last paragraph wrong, I believe it originally read:

United States is today the world’s leading military power and exporter of arms. It sends hundreds of millions of dollars to Iraq, Israel, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc. while its own people face repression and economic hardship at home.

Let me see, last year Bush promised the Saudis $20 BILLION dollars worth of weapons and JDAM bombs. Obviously, the Israelis were sad the Saudis got a pony, so in July, Israel got $30 BILLION dollars of military aid and newer, cooler JDAMs with “laser navigators and glide wings” (**action figures not included). Yes, it does seem like Iran *IS* the problem throwing all that extremist money around.

Of course when Bush was in Israel [Newsweek]

“He told the Israelis that he can’t control what the intelligence community says, but that [the NIE’s] conclusions don’t reflect his own views”

Oh, yeah.. deja vu…

Washington is pushing for a third set of sanctions on Iran for refusing to halt enrichment work, as demand by the United Nations.
Where I have heard this before, more sanctions, violating UN inspections…

[Bush] warned Iran of “serious consequences” if it attacked U.S. ships and said all options were on the table.

Why does Congress keeps taking things off the table, follow Bush’s lead and put all options back on the table.
