Sherrod Brown backs away from single payer

Brown speaking to a HCAN't rally

In contrast, U.S. Sen. Brown told the admittedly sympathetic crowd gathered Friday morning that he has always supported a single-payer system but that wasn't likely to happen during this Congress. So, he said, he's campaigning for the next best thing: The mix between private and public health coverage.

"The plan we write will deal with the uninsured and underinsured," Brown said.

Why is a system that is supported by the majority of the American people and the majority of the doctors not politically practical? It is time to call Senators like Brown on their pusillanimity. If Brown will introduce a Senate version of HR 676 or at least support Sanders legislation, then it becomes possible. Brown is a Senator, he is not a widow or orphan, it is not like he is helpless. If you live in Ohio, and you have not previously contacted Brown on this, please ask Brown to stand by his historic commitment to HR 676.

Disappointing

I expect more from Sherrod Brown.
