Shorter Daley

Our Beloved Leader's chief of staff:

As a government our responsibility is to lay the foundations for the private sector to thrive

Funny, I could have sworn the purpose of government was different:

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Just saying.

NOTE You can see the neo-liberal idiocy of Daley's statement by asking whether it applies to policies that put creating jobs overseas first, even as people are DISemployed here. And one might also ask whether all parts of the business sector deserve investment of taxpayer dollars in equal meaure. The administration's policies on Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security will cause the coffin making business to "thrive," for example. The administration's policies on war are causing the defense contractors to "thrive." Example can be multiplied...

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
