[Welcome, Open Left readers. See response here. UPDATE: To be clear on the sequence, Sirota tells Clintonites to "slither back to their ratholes." Pushback occurs, via posts like this, and email. Sirota then calls the posters stalkers. The sequence of bullying followed by STFU
will be obvious to anybody who experienced the primaries. -- lambert]
Pathetic. Just pathetic. Pulling rank on some random commenter because Obama gave him a call?
You can just hear Sirota stamping his feet. Like Alice: "I am real."
UPDATE Having told a vast swath of his readership to STFU, the writer of "STFU and slither back to your rathole of bitterness" now decries personal attacks. Hilarious. I'm glad Stoller's where he is, so I don't want him back, but can somebody take Sirota aside and get him to calm down?

Weird
I don't get his escalation to "fuckhead" after just one comment in which neither profanity nor invective was used. The other person just expressed disagreement with the thrust of his post.
And what's with the constant incantation of "bitterness" and "bitter?" Especially when arguing with someone who posts as "pgco4obama," and not "PUMApower33" or "HRCtehawesummm?"
BO BJ
I read what his post was in response to, and it was asking for a response, but the one David gave was beyond immature. It's hilarious that he then connects us to this gem of a post back to a 2006 entry of his:
Talk about a sloppy BO BJ.
I'd have been embarrassed to link back to that.
EDIT: Just clicked on your second link. What a drama queen. Dude needs to calm down. He's fulfilling one of the stereotypes of a particular section of bloggers; you know, the whole self-important "look at me"-type of bloggers.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
Yeah, it's weird
And the weirdest of all is that, IMNSHO, if you want to go left, you've got to include Hillary's 18 million. As we see every day as, say, single payer and HOLC, which they need and are truly "progressive" don't even get covered. He oscillates between triumphalism about what "we" have achieved and these weird attacks. Personally, I think the organizers of actions in CT are far more interesting, but I guess they won't be getting calls from Obama any time soon.

18 million??? STFU!
Acts like Sirota's remind me of an old boyfriend who, after I laid out some of the problems I was having with his behavior, screamed "why is everyone always telling me this??" in a tone that implied that clearly, everyone else was crazy and only he could accurately assess his behavior.
Nothing new
this behavior from this person that is. I always remember this post and haven't taken Sirota serious since. Even before I read this I found Sirota's vitriolic screeds childish and just as selective in tearing down oppenents' policy as GOPers are in their "take downs". And his logic isn't always very good, as Lambert so clearly demonstrated on the OL thread.
I don't mind occassional slips, everyone falls short at times. But there comes a time when repeated, bad faith or terribly off the mark failures should call into question a person's credibility.
Only tyrants rig elections.
Thanks for the link
Wow. That's rather sad!
Aww...poor guy
Q: And then why did he invite me to spend a day with him? Hmm...
A: To hit you up for a campaign contribution? Hmmm.......
It's okay David. Someone called you out. Don't worry, you still have a weenie and we know you are just really super special and all because Obama called you up and asked for a date. LOL!!
I sympathize with Sirota
it is ugly have a comment "why bother, no one pays attention to you"
if we had taken that attitude we wouldn't have a lefty blogosphere, because no one was paying attention back in 2002-2003.
Sirota is uneven, but he does good work.
There should be an awards show for
America's most inconsistent thinker.
Honors would be given, no doubt, to Arlen Specter, Chris Matthews, and one David Sirota (or, rather, both David Sirotas).
Maybe somebody keeps kidnapping him?
I think it's one thing to be a writer/analyst, and another to be a mobilizer/organizer.
Sirota seems to want to be both, but screaming STFU
defeats the latter purpose.
Sure, DCBloggers's quite right -- "uneven." So, take what you like and leave the rest. But there's more I leave now than there used to be.

The arrogance of authority
Those that have risen to the top of the blogosphere, all too often these days, display the arrogance of authority. Are they authorities, really, or do they just perceive themselves to be? (That's a rhetorical question in case you were wondering.)
I've seen this week a handful of examples of abuse of that perceived authority, including what's going on at OL. There's a growing disconnect between the A-listers and the riff raff. Sure, there will always be those who follow them, who would like to ride on their coattails; however, mark my words, the gains on the Left are being squandered by this arrogance. We will fall, divided from without and within.
