Slow bleed

CBS poll: Obama's approval dips below 50%.

That's a result of decisions made in summer 2008 (public option), August 2008 (FISA), and October 2008 (TARP). And the 2009 double-down: a too-small stim pack, no help on jobs, no help on losing homes. As things turned out, there was about as much 11-dimensional chess here as there is in falling down a flight of stairs. Or being pushed.

All that's left now is manipulation: A speech, a terror strike.

Say, whatever happened to that jobs tour Obama was going to do? It certainly doesn't seem to be getting a lot of play. I guess with unemployment at a mere 17%, the administration thinks they've crossed that item off the list?

people are funny

More folks felt the government would protect them from attacks after 9/11 than after the crotch-bomber:

While most Americans (56 percent) have at least a fair amount of confidence that the government will protect its citizens from future attacks, just 15 percent are very confident. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, more expressed confidence.

Because the problem is not that we have too little condescension from our tribe. -- okanogen

Add in

that he's going against (what's left of) labor with his tax on "cadillac" health plans and those numbers will go down further.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
