So, has anybody asked whether Todd Palin's penis is oddly shaped?

lambert's picture

Because that's what the Republicans asked about Bill Clinton, back in the day when they were impeaching him over a blowjob.

vomit

Of course, these are progressives poking into women's uteruses, and for a good purpose.

Alrighty, then.

NOTE Look, I get the post-partisan thing, I really do. I just didn't think we were going to become Republicans. Still, it's a proven vote-getting strategy, so why not?

Now, it's fair to say that some of the comments say "Enough!" But... Jeepers. Sowing the wind in the primary, reaping the whirlwind in the general. As BTD keeps saying, "With friends like these..." And who knows? Maybe the pushback they got from their initial reaction to Palin drove some sense into their heads. Which only proves that the rotisserie operatives at The Obama 527 Formerly Known as Daily Kos are just like the real operatives in one sense: Training them is like training a dog. You have to give them immediate feedback or else they don't learn. It makes no sense to wait until after the election or whenever.

To his credit, Obama has come out

and asked people to lay off, reminding them that his own mother gave birth to him at 18. He's reiterated his stance that going after people's children is off limits. http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/9/1/131521/5527

but only after the fact--not at all during --

it worked for him, after all-- and he didn't come out when it all started and spread, as he should have.

amberglow's picture

it's another missed opportunity to speak to women,

and all who care about rights--and how women must always have their choices and rights respected and protected.

also--the failures of Abstinence-only "education"--

that needs to brought up too--except of course, Obama will expand that as part of faith-based funding, tragically.

unfortunately....

...the Politico story that is the basis of the TL post doesn't tell us what the question was -- and given the fact that Palin announced that her daughter was pregnant hours ago, it seems likely that the story was about Palin's daughter's pregnancy.

Obama let the 'Trig is not Sarah Palin's daughter' story fester and grow for two days, and only bothered to denounce "those kinds of stories" when he was finally forced to. This is a consistent pattern with Obama -- allow smears to go on and on until he is forced to denounce them (see the initial race-boating of the Clintons, the RFK mess, etc).

And not to be too cynical about it, but the questionable marital status of Obama's mother WOULD have come into play here.... its not surprising that Obama would make it clear to the least savory of the Oborg to cool it on this smear, because it could ricochet...

Credit, but not much

Obama came out against the RFK smear his people pushed, but only after the bullshit was in the bloodstream, and 24 hours too late. That's no request to lay off; it's a modus operandi.

yup--standard M.O. for him--

given how damaged he's been from internet/email slurs, he should not be so slow on this stuff--especially now that he's up against someone who was also a victim of slurs in 2000 in ways that no one has forgotten.

Joe Trippi on Palin--

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/article... -- "... The McCain campaign plans on making an assault on Barack Obama’s strength as a change agent. And challenge, what the McCain campaign will describe as, Obama’s weak or non-existent attacks on corruption within the Democratic party and other institutions throughout his career.

Like the Swiftboat attacks of 2004 on Senator John Kerry, a decorated Viet Nam Veteran — this assault will be on what is now a strength of Barack Obama’s — his focus on changing a broken system in Washington.

To make this assault McCain picked in Palin someone who has taken on the corruption in the GOP in Alaska, turned against her own party’s establishment, and fought for reform.

The McCain/Palin duo will challenge Barack Obama’s claim of “a new kind of politics” and chastise Obama and Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee, Joe Biden, for their “silence” in taking on corruption in their own party in Illinois, Delaware and Washington, DC.

The McCain campaign intends to claim that “more of the same” in Washington means Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and will make the argument that if you want to “shake things up” then McCain and his reform minded running mate from Alaska will get the job done.

My initial reaction was that in picking Palin, McCain had taken away the argument that Barack Obama wasn’t ready to be President. I now think my initial assessment on that score was wrong. Over time the McCain team will insinuate that if you think a first term Governor isn’t ready for the number 2 slot, are your really sure that a first term Senator is ready for the number 1 spot? ..."

I'm not pimping

I put a roundup of orange-ade into diary my blog since it was not showing up as a comment (operator error?), but if you want more orang-anity regarding babygate and flying-baby-gate and daughter-babygate I have a few links.

By the way, I love how a women's medical decisions once were between a doctor and a patient, but everyone is allowed to armchair quarterback Ms. Wasilla's decisions about her childbirthing.

Someone please tell me seriously, why I care about her flying while pregnant, or in labor, or whatever? Is this seriously a litmus test now?

amberglow's picture

"and her pastor", says Obama--

ugh.

Sarah's picture

Intranets, I tried to bring back that post for you. Did it

work?

Also -- please, just 'cause TMCB is my house -- call a blog a blog, a post a post, and a comment a comment here, please?
We don't write / read "diaries" in The Mighty Corrente Building. We're not about snooping through each others' private thoughts, here. We're about sharing ideas and information openly, on as many subjects as we can, with good writing foremost. 'K? Thanks.

sorry

Yes, you saved the comment, I also pasted it into my blog, but that can be edited out if is should be in the other place.

Sorry about "diary". I call a /node/ a /node/. Actually now I am confused.. there are only blogs and comments, not sure what a post is.

Feel free to leave my blog un-frontpaged, because there are now three entries about the same thing, and it really was just an inside joke anyways.

lambert's picture

Terminology

There can be different content types at a node: Blog is one such. Now, its the only one we have, so the two are easy to confuse.

A post is an instance of the content type blog.

A post can exist without any comments; it will have a URL (meaning, in our CMS, Drupal's, parlance, it is a node).

A comment cannot exist without a node (for example, a post). Its URL is the URL of the post to which it applies, followed by a hash (#) and a numeric identifier.

Posts also have lots of other options for authors that comments do not have.

My bad...

I'm doing a lot of stuff in RL, and I didn't want the DK pileon without the links, so I de-front-paged and Sarah got my back and refrontpaged. I think.

And +100 on killing "diary" as a locution. When in Rome, and so on.

Well, speaking NOT as a pro administrator, 'cause I don't even

play one on the radio, I figure information deserves to be free.

Which is probably one of the reasons I love my work but can't stay out of trouble at my job.

I used to be able to juggle a couple hundred details in my head. I used to be able to add a column of figures without pencil and paper. Not so any more, and fast going downhill. But "diary" has always bothered me deeply -- it has such a connotation of gleeful little boys running away with their sisters' personal journals to read aloud to get their sisters into disfavor or ridicule somewhere -- be it with parents or with peers of the thieves -- that I find it inherently distasteful.

To me, a post is something unique. It may be a picture. It may be a quote. It may be an argument. But it is defined by its substance and its independence from context; it will make sense if it stands alone. It may be on your blog -- initiating a conversation. It may be in answer to another poster, expanding or expostulating.

A comment is almost always an answer, though, and usually won't make sense as a stand-alone statement -- it's a "you had to be there" rubric, I guess.

off topic

Regarding the going downhill, they have been able to take off 10-25 years of mental age from daily brain "exercise". I think part of the decline is shrinkage of the frontal cortex just from aging. It's the same people who fixed inner ear problems with electrodes on the tongue.

lambert's picture

Let's not talk about electrodes on the tongue

When I mentioned putting up an electric fence to protect my beans, and then putting peanut butter on it to give the deer a learning experience, Sarah got all bent out of shape.

Jezebel-"conceding to conservatives that they are right"

http://jezebel.com/5044017/sarah-palin-r...

"... When we waste our time and energy rooting around in someone's personal life for John McCain's next black baby, we are conceding to conservatives that they are right. They have spent the last couple of decades saying that the gender of the person one chooses to love should be grounds for discrimination at work, in housing choices, in marriage rights and whereever else a little homophobe's heart desires. They have said that the government should be able to limit (and to know) what woman does with the contents of her uterus based on what they wish to make a government-sanctioned religious conception of when life begins. They use their power in government to limit children's access to age-appropriate sex education in schools in the name of teaching children their religious-inspired world view on sexual behavior. I could keep going, but you get the point.

And when liberals and progressives pounce on rumors like this one about Trig's "true" parentage — whether or not it is true, which I'm pretty sure it's not — or rumors about Republican politicians' sexuality (in the absence of crimes committed) we are conceding that conservatives are right, and personal choices do qualify or disqualify one for certain aspects of participation in public life and this democracy. ..."

wasabi's picture

Liberals/Progressives

Liberals/Progressives are supposed to hold the opinion that a woman's uterus belongs to her and not to the government or the general public.

I want to believe that there is intentional ratfucking going on here. The other option is too horrible to consider. Multitudes of progressive panty-sniffers?

I do not think that Obama needs to come out and refute every hair-brained loopy conspiracy theory that comes out in the Orange Blob, DU, AmericaBlog, etc. He's never get anything constructive done in his campaign.

lambert's picture

To me, Kos is Tier Two

He's there to give Obama plausible deniability for D ratfucking. Except it's not all that plausible, since McCain was willing to call him on it.

Kos, of course, knows what's going on; it's not loopy stuff at all. The sysadmins were involved in purging Kos, because of the screens that some Hillary supporters got (myself among them). That means Kos had to know.

527.
