So, how many times did Obama reinforce the brand by mentioning the word "Democrat" in the debate?

Here's the transcript; guess. Ten times? Five? Three? Twice? Once?

Zero?

Ding ding ding ding! We have a winner!

Government of national unity in time of crisis, here we come!

NOTE It's about the checks and balances. When the Ds and Rs are fighting, they don't get a lot done real fast, but that's OK. Because the alternative is to have them co-operating, and when they do that, they are far more able to fuck you. (It's like Adam Smith's idea that every meeting of two businessmen ends in a conpiracy against the public.) The uncertain fate of Hank Paulson's trillion dollar giveaway is a perfect example: Why hasn't that turkey been passed already? Nothing other than raw partisanship. Sure, this time from knuckle-dragging Republican backbenchers, but only policy outcomes matter, eh?

UPDATE Called shot from amberglow on this one. If your drinking game had the keyword "Democrat," you might as well have left the cap on the bottle. Then again, who needs a party when you have a shiny leader?

UPDATE Just for shits and grins, I searched for "hope." Zero. "Change" is there, of course, but from both of 'em.

I've read the transcript but I can't remember

Does he mention postpartisan?

And why is it postpartisan and not bipartisan again?

Why am I not surprised?

Because Obama is a DINO. I cannot tell you how it grates on me every time Obama says, "I agree with McCain" or "McCain is right". The mess we are in economically (Hillary is right, it is not just financial) is because of Republican policies and lack of oversight. "Reaching out across the aisle" is not a winner for me, nor should it be for any TRUE Democrat.
The only reason that the Republicans blocked their President's "plan" was because it made the Democrats look good. Hopefully now the Republicans will just look worse to the voters. But, hey, the last time Americans voted in their own best interests was when they elected Bill Clinton, twice.
I cannot vote for McCain, or any Republican for that matter, that is an absolute. IF i vote for Obama, it will be only because of something that Bill Or Hillary said that convinced me it was the best thing to do.

What a sorry spectacle it is...

... that the party that dare not speak its name is now desperately trying to jump through Paulson's hoops so it can declare victory over, um, Paulson's hoops. And their GOP trainers are scolding them for not jumping high enough yet.

I keep reading about this partisan bickering, and I haven't seen any, unless the Democrats' attempt to steal the GOP's toxic thunder are supposed to count.

Depressing.

Just depressing. It'as pretty clear that Obama is not going to appeal to me by November.

He's just not my brand of democrat.

Randall Kohn's picture

He's not ANY brand of democrat, and NEVER even PRETENDS to be .

This is ALL about rubbing our faces in shit. It's a FORMAL FUNERAL for the party.

The base is being punished for its impudence in supporting real Democratic candidates.

"Senator McCain is Right"

I called that one during the debate, and someone was counting. Aparently, he said that line or variations of it at least eight times during the debates. Juxtapose that against the number of times he said the word "Democrat", and, yes, it's depressing as hell.

I think it's time to turn the Obama/Biden ticket upside down. At least Biden mentions Democrats and tries to nail Republicans against the ground.

Hillary was in my city, yesterday morning. I wasn't there but watched clips and she laid out succinctly why Barack Obama and the Democrats were the only choice. I'll never be able to get over how every time she speaks she makes him look like a lesser candidate. It reminds me an office trying to prop up their habitually clueless boss. In fact, it reminds me of The Office. Obama is a more refined Michael Scott, but a Michael Scott, nonetheless.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
