South Carolinians 4 Universal Health Care

Uninsured back universal health care

When Andrew and Merry Kuharsky had their first child in Canada, they never got a bill from the hospital.

Their second child, born in Greenville, cost them about $3,000.

As they see more and more Americans becoming uninsured, and fear what their own future may hold with only catastrophic coverage, the Kuharskys, directors of the Greenville Ballet School, think it's time to change the health-care system.

So along with South Carolinians 4 Universal Health Care, they are hosting an information session on a single-payer system Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Greenville Ballet School. Speakers include Dr. Paul DeMarco and health-care economist Lynn Bailey.
