Local heroes confront Senator Spector on single payer
This just in from my local single-payer activism source on Thursday's DC trip (which I missed because of illness, isn't it ironic). This just goes to show what what happens when you refuse to be ignored. Names have been removed to protect the heroic from their employers. This is the aftermath of a meeting with Spector's aide:
Spector: We don't need no stinkin' Constitution[al confrontation]
As usual, a Republican Moderate
melts like a warm turd in the rain. Arlen "Trust the President" Spector pleads for mercy:
"I counsel my colleagues, both Democrats and Republicans, to work hard to avoid an impasse. We don't need a constitutional confrontation," said Sen. Arlen Specter (news, bio, voting record) of Pennsylvania, the panel's top Republican.
A Constitutional confrontation is exactly what we need, because a Constitutional crisis is exactly what we've got.
