What a shame. And we try so hard to be Civil. Guess we’ll have to stop using it. Not.

Military Christianists pull rank to force their beliefs on subordinates

Christian Embassy, a theocratic front group, made a video with soldiers, in uniform, proselytizing, and a General violating his oath of office by admitting he puts his country third, after his family and the God of His Choice.

That was WaPo this morning. This evening, Reuters chimes in, showing how high-ranking Christianists are using the power of rank to force their beliefs on subordinates. Air Force Academy graduate Mikey Weinstein has been battling Christianist domination at the Air Force academy, and has this to say about what the video shows:

“It’s egregious beyond the pale,” said Mikey Weinstein, president and founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. “We apparently have a radicalized, evangelical Christian[ist] Pentagon within the rest of the Pentagon.”

The group asked the Pentagon’s inspector general to investigate a video in which some Army and Air Force officers discuss their faith while in uniform.

A military watchdog group is asking the Defense Department to investigate whether seven Army and Air Force officers violated regulations by appearing in uniform in a promotional video for an evangelical Christian organization.

In the video, much of which was filmed inside the Pentagon, four generals and three colonels praise the Christian Embassy, a group that evangelizes among military leaders, politicians and diplomats in Washington. Some of the officers describe their efforts to spread their faith within the military.
