Citigroup gets some SERIOUS frequent flyer miles.
All industries are equal, but some industries are more equal than others:
WASHINGTON – Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan is beside himself over a report that Citigroup is buying a $50-million corporate jet considering that when the heads of Detroit’s automakers came to Washington in private jets to ask for aid they got blasted for it.
The federal government, after all, is into Citigroup for $50 billion under its package to rescue financial firms. Eventually — thanks to President George W. Bush — General Motors and Chrysler got a line on $17.4 billion, but only after agreeing to give up their corporate jets. (Chrysler didn’t own one, but now doesn’t even charter or lease one.)
CREW's selective morality
Welch gives back Rangel contributions
Melanie Sloan, executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said Welch should go further and recuse himself from the Rangel investigation entirely.
“That’s definitely a problem,” Sloan said. “If you have taken money from the guy, you shouldn’t be judging him. Even if you are objective, there’s a real appearance problem.”
Hagel Hype
It truly sickens me the way Republicans can spend a lifetime of running our country into the ground, go on Sunday morning TV, make a few nice sounds and presto, he's cabinet material.
The latest from Steve Clemons: Chuck Hagel Will Help Obama Find his "Inner Nixon".
Clemons says this like it was a good thing. Yeah, the secret bombing of Cambodia, the destruction of Chilean democracy, and so many other things were such a good idea and worked out so well for our country.
