We've had some generous one-time donations over the weekend but we're still short of our goal of $100 in recurring monthly contributions to help pay for the server costs. The pledge drive will end at 2:30 pm EST today, the same time it started last Monday. Sign up as a recurring donor before 2:30 or the Zucchini of Chastisement gets splattered.

Also, the Progressive Pr0n Prize Pledge is still operative if we meet the goal. Otherwise, no porn for you!

So give 'till it hurts so good and help keep the hamsters that spin the wheels that keep the Mighty Corrente Building going.

Mighty Corrente Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. We're now (Saturday morning) at $75 in recurring monthly contributions and $35 in one-time donations. We're that close to reaching the goal and ending these annoying posts. With another $10 and a $15 recurring donation we'll be done (until the next pledge drive to raise the other $100). The one time donations will help feed the hamsters in case a recurring donor drops out in the future.

THB's comment (thanks for becoming a Patron, BTW) about how self support is so important to sustain independent groups reminded me of what I've been reading in "Whose Freedom" by George Lakoff.

I'm still not entirely confortable with the Strict Father vs Nurturant Parent model, but it does so much to decode the frames the Right Wing has been using and also to unify the myriad interest groups on the Left:

Since Correntewire.com started almost two years ago Lambert has been paying the monthly server costs entirely out of his pocket. As our popularity increases, the server costs go up. Currently they're at $200/month.

If you appreciate posting on Corrente and having an average of 3,500 daily visitors read your stuff; if you enjoy commenting and interacting with other readers with no restrictions on cussin'; if you get information and entertainment out of the shrill, reality-based postings... signing up for a recurring donation would be a Good Thing to do.
