Fucked in the head watch

FITH watch: Americablog Retro Edition

Lambert has alluded to this post a couple of times in passing, but I wanted to make sure it was included in the FITH Watch archive (to which I'll be linking in my next post), as it's one of the classics of the genre: Americablog's "Shameless HiIllary blames all of us for her sick 'assassination' remarks on Friday, which have redefined the Macaca moment."

Let the healing begin!

My apologies to those who propagated RFK-gate. In the heat of the moment, I said they were "fucked in the head."

Turns out they were merely lying.

I hope that, in the spirit of unity, they will forgive my ill-considered comments.

FITH watch: Erm edition

Given that, beyond any doubt whatsoever, Hillary Clinton Uttered the Most Dangerous and Hurtful Comment Ever Made, one that could crush the spirit of a nation and inspire race-based political murders....

Was it a particularly good idea for the MSM and the Obama camp to take that statement, which was uttered in an obscure newsroom, and make it the Nightmare Invoked 'Round the World?

That was out loud, guys. Very, very out loud.

FITH watch: Goodwin Edition

Michael Goodwin at the Daily News knows how to milk a non-story when he wishes he heard one:

There is no question she was citing the RFK murder of 40 years ago in the spirit of "anything can happen" and thus as a reason she should stay in the race against Barack Obama.

Which means she was thinking of murder as a momentum changer.

90% of his readers, he says, enthusiastically support his revisionist history while-U-wait service.

FITH watch: Kurtz almost does the right thing but can't resist edition

Now that reluctant media critic Howard Kurtz has returned from the long weekend, he's crawling through the lekkage.

He marvels at the assassination-gate feeding frenzy, citing some of the relevant debunkings.

Still, like all Villagers, he can't keep from feeding the beast a little, making Hillary ultimately responsible for starting the fire, even if he considers the four-alarm response disproportional.

FITH watch: Gray Lady Edition

From the paper that brought you Judith Miller, Michael Gordon, Tom "Suck on This" Friedman, and Jayson Blair:

Is it even possible that Mrs. Clinton thinks someone out there was not offended by her remark, Kennedy relative, Obama relative, or just plain folks?

I hate to break it to you, Times Editorial Board, but you are fucked in the head.

FITH watch: Rachel Maddow edition

The "liberal" who makes you wish Pat Buchanan got more airtime speaks:

I think that it makes you think that it would be very awkward for a vice president to be on a ticket—for a vice presidential candidate to be on a presidential candidate's ticket after she's made repeated references to his potential death. Yes, that would be weird.

FITH watch: Godwin edition

Of course, one could link to Cheetopia posts on this subject all night, and why not?

Anyway, here is one in which Hillary is likened to Eichmann and Faust:

...I look at her and can no longer recognize her humanity. She has made a Faustian bargain, and it shows. The banality of evil indeed.

FITH watch: Violence against women edition

Robert Paul Reyes:

Hillary Clinton is the pinata of politics, she's such a despicable creature that nobody bats an eye when she's ridiculed, criticized or condemned. This is not a perfect analogy, a pinata is a brightly-colored paper container filled with sweets and/or toys and Hillary is a dour and bitter woman filled with arrogance, spite, jealousy and all manner of evil.

A pinata does nothing to deserve its horrible fate; we can't help but feel a tinge of sorrow when we see its shattered remains. But Hillary is so evil that most folks figure she had it coming when pundits and comics tear her apart.

FITH watch: Conservative with Kennedy nostalgia WTF Edition

Stephan Andrew Brodhead at The Conservative Voice:

Hillary making reference to the RFK assassination was not a 'slip of the tongue '!

FITH watch: Oncology edition

Thus sayeth blogger "Desperado" on the Houston Chronicle's blog:

In my opinion, her intentions were crystal clear, to say that she needs to stay in the race in case some tragedy befalls Barack Obama.

The superdelegates need to convene NOW, not May 31 or June 3, TODAY. They need to throw their unanimous support behind Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee and put and end to this process NOW. They must rid their Party of the cancer that is Hillary Clinton before it spreads any further. Not just for the good of the Democratic Party, but for the country as a whole.

FITH watch: Australian Edition

Geoff Elliott, Washington correspondent for The Australian, might want to consider taking the FITH self-diagnostic:

HILLARY Clinton has lost it. Her gaffe at the weekend that seemed to imply she's staying in the race because her rival Barack Obama might be assassinated is one of the bigger blunders ever witnessed in a US presidential campaign.

...

How many nutjobs in the US, wrestling their demons, now might actually think Clinton was talking to them when referencing the Kennedy assassination, perhaps believing she was sending them a message and finding in them some kind of endorsement?

...

FITH watch

Huffington Post is still huffing and posting about Hillary Clinton's scandalous reference to "June," a racially charged trigger word inexorably linked to the Cleaver family.

Yale professor David Bromwich's huffy post today is so suffused with FITH Syndrome that an excerpt simply could not do it justice.

But here's something you can do for justice...

Please send me (vastleft###vastleft.com [substituting an @ sign for the ###s]) links to the most egregious examples of "Hillary Hinckley" finger-wagging you can find.

Are you fucked in the head?

[Since zombie lies never die, I'm updating to include:

* A link to Lambert's debunking post
* A link to all posts in this series]

Please watch the video of Hillary's comment regarding Robert F. Kennedy's assassination.

Do you think she's intimating something ominous about Barack Obama?

If you answered "yes," you might want to consult with a medical professional, to see if you're fucked in the head.

Since the Democrats' frontrunner doesn't support universal healthcare and speaks disparagingly about "socialized medicine," you might want to save money by taking this handy home test.

It will show how fucked-in-the-head you are, measured by how much evidence contradictory to your fucked-up perception your fucked-up head chooses to ignore.

This is your party on Unity

On Democratic Underground, I posted that excellent MyDD piece by an Obama supporter who was repulsed by this weekend's assassination-gate lek.

These are your fellow Democrats, folks.

Everything old is new again

Then:

Now:

As I noted in comments elsewhere, is Hillary never to mention RFK and his campaign? Is she supposed to say "The night RFK won the CA primary and was handed a basket of warm kittens?"   Read more…

Hillary Clinton's disturbing pattern

Hillary Clinton's reference to Robert F. Kennedy is just the tip of the iceberg of her worrisome ill intent.

Recently, she mentioned Abraham Lincoln. And not just in any context, but as as a pretext to get herself alone on a stage with her political rival, Barack Obama.

Thank God, he didn't take the bait! At this point, is there any doubt that she planned to go all "Sic semper tyrannis" on him?

Three years ago, she collapsed in Buffalo, NY, no doubt overwhelmed with excitement about her plan to re-enact McKinley's assassination at the Pan-American Expo. Talk about premeditated!

This is the end of the innocence

Watching the feeding frenzy over Hillary Clinton's completely innocuous RFK comment, I am now officially afraid.

CDS, the derangement syndrome that fuels psychotic hatred of all things Clinton, has verifiably (re)infected our entire media apparatus and much of the Democratic Party.

If it's not Day of the Dead, it's certainly Time of the Truthy.

Remember the helpless dread you felt when the GOP willfully drove us off the rails of reality?
