New Study Shows Prop. 8 Success “Not Personal”
New Study Shows Prop. 8 Success “Not Personal” --
If you live in California and are a Republican, attend church at least once a week, hold socially conservative views, and are 65-years-old or older, you most likely voted "Yes" on Proposition 8 to repeal marriage equality for your gay and lesbian neighbors. In addition, you are most likely male and probably even know someone, or are related to someone, who is gay or lesbian—but you still supported Prop 8.
The Violence we Live with
On the same day that a man who repeatedly raped and impregnated his two daughters was given 25 life terms and the man who fled to India and married a second wife to hide from prosecution for rape and murder was sentenced, word is out about the new forced marriages law in the UK. The one they didn't think was necesssary.
It wasn't necessary. I wish the Home Office in the UK could be required to explain that to the two girls who were raped repeatedly starting at ages 8 and 10.

another "Faith, Family, and Values Tour" -- now with even more bigotry
"... the Obama campaign next week will kick off “Barack Obama: Faith, Family, and Values Tour,” designed to woo the votes of left-leaning Catholics, progressive Evangelicals, and some conservative mainline Protestants. If LGBT people find the tour eerily reminiscent of the South Carolina gospel tour the campaign arranged last year with antigay "ex-gay" gospel singer Donnie McClurkin, their instincts may not be far off.
CBN names Catholic legal scholar Douglas Kmiec as one of the religious surrogates who will hit the road stumping for Obama. Kmiec wrote a June 13 op-ed for the San Francisco Chronicle supporting California's Proposition 8, the ballot measure to ban same-sex marriage ..."
Here Comes the Bribe, or, From Wedding March to Perp Walk
Awhile back on "Law & Order" they had a scenario where a couple of guys had been conniving wickedly, but the only witness who could testify against either was the other one of the pair. They had the one guy all set to sing and then they put him on the stand and he said he and the other fellow had run up to Massachusetts the day before and gotten married, therefore he was refusing to testify under spousal privilege.
That of course was fiction. The following is what passes for reality these days. At least these two crooks aren't infested with Teh Ghey. From Taegan Goddard yesterday:
Two Bush administration officials "who have been linked in scandal are now linked in wedlock. The union of former Deputy Interior Secretary J. Steven Griles and Sue Ellen Wooldridge could have implications for the investigation into Griles's ties to ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff," The Hill reports.
Ain't it just [sniff, sniff, weep, blow nose, accidentally open large box filled with metal BBs onto the red wedding carpet] so sweet? Republican devotion to marriage & traditional family 'n' shit...it just gets me right [pats hand over lower digestive tract] here. But to continue:
Fuck the HRC
The Good Folks at FDL speak for me.
I gave up on 'em a while back, but if you're gay and you think the HRC is anything more than a great place for Circut Boi to meet Power Daddy, you're kidding yourself.
