National Demonstrations against health insurance company denials and rejections of patients

Demonstrations will be held in front of the largest and wealthiest multi-billion dollar companies exposing and indicting their practices that have, so long, kept us from having a national health insurance plan with equality for all in this nation with no financial barriers to care.

Maryland balks at pay package for former CareFirst CEO

The Maryland Insurance Administration argued Monday that the nearly $18 million CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is prepared to pay William Jews, its former top executive, is too much.

Attorneys with the state agency said the MIA wants to cut the annual and long-term incentives CareFirst, the region's largest health insurer, plans to pay Jews, who left the nonprofit in November 2006. The insurance administration also argued that the primary focus of a nonprofit is not to generate profits or encourage its top managers with incentives to increase profits.

I support legislation that guarantees "Internet Freedom" – known as network neutrality. This is being referred to as the “First Amendment” of the Internet and ensures equal access for all to access the Internet. However, this freedom is now in jeopardy.
There should be no corporate or governmental gatekeepers for the online medium. Consumers should be able to readily visit the website of their choice. Websites, such as those from local businesses, should not have to pay a tax to large cable or phone companies in order to ensure they receive reasonable service.
