The head of the Georgia Christian Coalition ordered the dissolution of a Macon-based affiliate last week, after the affiliate's chairman endorsed Casey Cagle, one of two Republican candidates for lieutenant governor.

Sadie Fields, chairman of the statewide organization, said she pulled the plug on the Middle Georgia Christian Coalition to protect her group's tax-exempt standing — not because she personally backs the other candidate in the primary, Ralph Reed.
