Bitterblue

As someone who perversely prefers reality to religion, tonight’s so-called “Compassion Forum” at Messiah College (no, I am not making that up) was rather gut-wrenching.

I’ll leave it to professional scatologists and eschatologists to sift out the candidates’ pandering from their sincere beliefs in supernatural phantoms.

I must say, though, that it would take the faith of a child or a ____ member not to guffaw at Obama’s rationalization for the “bitterness” kerfuffle, an answer that purports to clarify this statement of his about small-town, blue-collar voters in PA and the Midwest:  Read more 

What Obama Actually Said About Reagan to George Stephanopoulos today

Obama “explains” his Reagan quote (video) by — wait for it — ratifying Republican framing:

He leads off:

Well, I think that, keep in mind Ronald Reagan came in during the 1980s, at a time when, I think, Democrats still dominated Congress, when the view was that we were going to solve our problems, oftentimes, by expanding government programs, and he challenged many of those ideas.

He proceeds to criticize Reagan’s policies and then says:

For all I know, RJ Eskow is a super guy and a great thinker. But for the second time, I run across his byline at HuffPo, and he’s screwed the pooch again.
