WWTSBQ 2.0 - A Neverending Series
Cross-posted from The Global Sociology Blog
My blog bookmark listing is getting thinner every day. That goes along with the shrinking respect I had for some bloggers in the past. Boy has this primary been a reality check. Here is someone who used to be one of my favorite bloggers, Hilzoy, subbing for Kevin Drum at the Washington Monthly : Read more…
WWTSBQ version 2.0
It appears there are a couple new and upgraded versions of WWTSBQ
making the rounds these days.
The first, is the "I'm [or He] The Man" narrative typified by this:
Not long after the polls close in the May 20 Kentucky and Oregon primaries, Barack Obama plans to declare victory in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.
The advantages of this version over the previous version is that it ignores Hillary Clinton altogether. We should call this the TSBL (That Stupid Bitch Lost) narrative.
How Hillary is being divisive
Why were Dean and other prominent (Obama-supporting) Democrats pushing so hard to make Hillary quit?
Obamaniac CW
is that Hillary is divisive and needs to quit because even though she is "doomed" to lose, she will damage Obama enough in the remaining contests to give McCain the victory in November.
But that's not the reason for the WWTSBQ
meme. Hillary is hardly being rough on Obama, despite what his supporters say.
Hillary is being "divisive" because she won't step aside so that Obama can unify us.

Except she renames it "Take Your Boobs and Go Home" Watch... which works for me as well. I particularly like this quote which summarizes well what lots of us women feel about these repeated calls to withdraw:

MSNBC,
High profile Obama backer, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), told Vermont Public Radio that he thinks Clinton should drop out and back Obama.

Here is how Kevin Drum disappeared from my blogroll and $10 more went to HRC's campaign:
"Yeah, I'm pretty much at the same place. There are already an awful lot of reasons for me not to bother defending Hillary even tepidly, and I hardly need another one. She's been voted off the island. It's time for her to go."
