The GOP held their roll call *last night*.

Whoa. They even beat us in dumb show.

"After Sarah Palin speech, GOP conducted roll call vote. Second-place finisher: Ron Paul, with 5 delegates; third place, Mitt Romney."

Now I heard squat about the roll call vote today. Did you? Searched for "roll call" on my papers' websites, and found nothing. Found this through Google:

"Sarah Palin's speech may have been the highlight of Wednesday night's Republican National Convention, but the official business was to formally nominate John McCain as the Republican candidate for President.

As has been done at least once in the past, the offical roll-call was put off until after the portion of the proceedings carried on network television.

So it was 10:22 pm. CDT when his fellow Arizonan, Sen. John Kyl, rose to give the nominating speech for Mr. McCain, followied by a one-sentence speech by Texas Railroad Commsision Chairman Michael WIlliams.

Most states cast all of their votes for Mr. McCain though an early vote for Texas Rep. Ron Paul drew a chorus of boos.

Then, began the roll-call, as each of the 50 states and the territories cast their ballots for the Arizona senator who wrapped up the GOP nomination many months ago."

To repeat, this was not televised, but all states were allowed to share their vote totals.

One can hate the corporatism, but admire their spandex-tight discipline. Ours was so sloppy, ill-considered, too eager to please....

If we're striving to be the next GOP, stop lying to me to get me to like it. *Own* your evil, I say, DNC....

Wow, a roll call vote?

It's not shiny. Why allow people to actually see how you vote, anyhow?

I saw it. It was on CSPAN

Pretty late at night. Paul got a smidge. The rest of the candidates didn't show up. The *difference* was that for the Republicans, there was no question of who the true winner was. They have a winner takes all system for their primaries so there's very little to talk about by the time the convention comes. It makes it much easier for the other candidates to give in and concede graciously.
In *our* system, the candidates were virtually tied. The number of pledged delegates was insignificant. So, it was always going to come down to the superdelegates who completely went against the will of the voters in many of their states. That's what makes it a travesty and a miscarriage of justice for the Dems. Given the number of delegates she earned, there should have been vigorous debate and a genuine roll call. What we ended up with was harrassed delegates, a bum rush and permanently pissed off voters containing half of the base. Oh, sure, a lot of Hillary people have gotten aboard the Obama love train but there are enough of us out there who will never accept Obama aas our nominee that their decision to screw us over will be noted for political science types for years to come. It will be a cautionary tale.

I don't think it's fair to represent a cry for justice...

... and accountability as "hurt feelings."

On a different post; BIO was displaying

But we need to get over stolen elections

We did in 2000 and 2004. Why the heck not in 2008.

Justice schmustice. McCain/Palin=evil, get over it.

Only tyrants rig elections.

Because we're supposed to steal from the REPUBLICANS, dummy!

We did in 2000 and 2004. Why the heck not in 2008.

Well, for one thing, how exactly did 2000 and 2004 work out for you? But hey, I'm all for stealing and sharp elbows and what-not .. used against REPUBLICANS.

If you think of BHO as a trojan horse, built with financing and assistance of people who weren't exactly our BFFs until now, to make sure the Democrats lose in a "CAN'T POSSIBLY LOSE" year, does that change your view on why outrage over the nomination might be something besides "hurt feelings"?

You're right. McCain/Palin are definitely evil.

Now, since we have no voice and no vote and have to just get over it, we can do nothing except warm up the popcorn, sit back, turn on the teevee and hope that that wonderful Obama machine can actually go up against a fierce competitor, instead of just eating its own.

and CNN was sorta covering it too--

they kept an eye on it and spoke of showing us Arizona--i turned off the tv before then tho...
