The President will speak at the school's Performing Arts Center in a visit sponsored by the World Affairs Council of West Michigan. The topic will be the war on terror, but school administrators say this visit is in no way a political endorsement, merely an opportunity for education."Foreign policy, topics on the war, public opinion. All or thise things are happening in out hallways, amongst each other, with our teachers. It's really creating a healthy dialogue," Fee said.
A random drawing was used to determine which 44 students will be inside the auditorium for Bush's speech. Charlie Wondergem wasn't picked, but he told 24 Hour News 8 he'll get to see the President anyway.
"I got on the phone with former ambassador Peter Secchia," said Wondergem, the president of the East Grand Rapids Young Republicans, "and he was kind enough to get me two tickets. I gave the other one to my faculty advisor."
An antiwar group known as ACTIVE is planning a protest for 12:15 p.m. Friday at John Collins Park on Reeds Lake, near the school. The group has their own guest speaker, retired CIA officer Ray McGovern who is known for challenging former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld during a 2006 speech in Atlanta.
Some East Grand Rapids students plan to wear black on Friday in their own form of protest.
I grew up near GR, and it's very Republican. Good on the kids in black. Given how tightly Bush secures himself against all forms of dissent, this is a smart way to show that not everyone young is as stupid as he is.

Black is blue.
Good for them, and the poor babies. Kids have to know it's their future the cretin in chief is destroying. And their debt.
