Dodd looking better and better
Hillary looking worse and worse.
And Obama's missing in action.
We. Are. Going. To. Die. We must restore hope in the world. We must bring forth a new way of living that can sustain the world. Or else it is not just us who will die but everyone. What have we got to lose? Go forth and Fight!—Xan
My man Daniel Inouye, OTOH, continues
to stand up for We the People.
I remember him during Watergate.
Man lost an arm in WW2.
Good thing he doesn't represent a Red state, or KKKarl would've subjected him to the Cleland treatment too.
Wish Texas had somebody with the same kind of guts and the same vision of Constitutional Government.
Sam Nunn, Sam Rayburn, LBJ -- even Jim Wright would be so much better than Cornyn!!!! And the vaunted Kay Bailey Hutchison? Please.
Telllingly, Webb still votes against
Which means his concerns--basically, Congress has just authorized a backdoor declaration of war without even the formality of a hearing--have not been addressed.
Silly Jim Webb! He thinks we still live under a Constitutional government.
We. Are. Going. To. Die. We must restore hope in the world. We must bring forth a new way of living that can sustain the world. Or else it is not just us who will die but everyone. What have we got to lose? Go forth and Fight!—Xan
They Did Actually Edit It
The new text is available here.
Of importance are the subsections to part (b)(3)&(4) - compare with the prior language linked here.
I should have checked on that possibility before going bonkers after reading Woody's post.
The language in the passed amendment is not nearly as bad -- but still is not great. And those amongst you who perfuctorily assume all laws will be broken by the administration, then the fact that this one passed shouldn't be an issue either way.
The Bill of Rights is a born rebel. It reeks with sedition. In every clause it shakes its fist in the face of constituted authority. . . . it is the one guaranty of human freedom to the American people. - Frank Irving Cobb
Yes, but this is also why we must WATCH them, and
not merely compare what they say to what they do, but make a record of how they abide by the laws they impose.
We must hold them accountable.
The media won't.
The courts won't.
The President can't.
It's up to us.
We are the ones they work for.
Congress, famously, does not require itself to abide by what it puts on the rest of the world. There's a poster over at Kos suggesting making Congress (senators, representatives, and their dependents) experience reality by requiring them to obtain exactly the same quality and availablility of care they impose on the US military and veterans through the VA system -- enforcing that would be a nightmare, but it might be the first step toward awakening the elite.
AIPAC continue to hold Obama and Hill by the gonads
Walking a tightrope to continue receiving campaign funds. Abstaining from votes and ducking direct questions about how AIPAC has influenced their foreign policy will work for a while.
Thank you for keeping this issue out front.
